During his life time Robert was active in various civic groups and organizations. Texas Public Engineering Association, Club Amistad del Valle, Hebbronville Chamber of Commerce. He was a life time active parishioner and member of Our Lady of Sorrows in McAllen, Texas.

After 20 years in the private sector, in March 2006 he retired with 51 years of Professional Civil Engineering Service to devote his life to his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
