Aggie Moms Boutique Selling Goodies During Family Weekend

Caitlin "Cait" Shields '11 February 8, 2018 3:47 PM updated: February 4, 2019 2:23 PM

A one-stop-shop for all things maroon, the annual Aggie Moms Boutique is coming back to Aggieland April 12-13, coinciding with Family Weekend.

Hosted by the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Clubs, a chartered Constituent Network of The Association of Former Students, at the Boutique, Aggie Moms' Clubs from across the state will be selling a variety of Aggie-themed goods including clothing, jewelry and décor.

“If you can imagine something in maroon and white, you will likely find it at Boutique,” said Carolyn Fey Phelan ’89, Federation president and Comal County Aggie Moms Club parliamentarian. “Clubs will also have many raffle opportunities.”

The Boutique runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 12, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, on the second floor of the MSC in all three ballrooms and in the hallways that connect them. Admission is free.

“Proceeds from the sale all go to benefit Texas A&M University either through student scholarships or through donations to campus student organizations,” Phelan said.

The major fundraiser of the year for most of the 108 Aggie Moms' Clubs, last year’s event netted about $400,000 in gross sales from thousands of shoppers that was turned around and given to A&M students in scholarships or to student organizations.

“[In], 2016-2017, our clubs reported giving back a total of over $650,000 from Boutique income and all other fundraising sources to the university, including branch campuses, by way of either student scholarships or donations to student organizations,” Phelan said.

Phelan said she hopes everyone in town for Family Weekend stops by the MSC on their way to the Maroon and White spring game at Kyle Field to learn more about Aggie Moms' Clubs and perhaps get some holiday shopping done early.

“You can get all your shopping done for all the Aggies on your list in this weekend and be done for the year,” Phelan said. “And in doing so you are helping these clubs provide scholarships for deserving young people.”

Phelan said many clubs take credit cards and some take personal checks but an ATM is located inside the MSC.
