If you saw news stories recently about Texas A&M offering its first Warrior-Scholar Project program, you should know that you helped make it happen!
The $5,000 that BCAMC donated to Texas A&M's Veteran Resource & Support Center last year helped the VRSC offer this program for the first time (read more here and here).
"What y’all helped us do is change the lives of 19 veterans,” said the VRSC's Col. Jerry L. Smith '82.
The weeklong “boot camp,” a kind of intense academic reorientation with daily sessions from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., helped these veterans take strengths from their military careers and apply them to higher education. They came out with high goals and high confidence in their ability to transition to top universities - three are already coming to Texas A&M and three more are seeking admission. The VRSC is hoping to offer a 2-week version next year.
