The Dixie Chicken, the legendary College Station watering hole, has a series of events planned to benefit veterans and the Boot Campaign, a veterans service organization led by Robyn Payne '94.

Twice a day during the week of Nov. 7-11, the Chicken will host a walk from the bar to the MSC and back to honor veterans. The public and members of the military are invited to join the walks, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

The walks lead up to a concert on Friday, when the Dixie Chicken presents free live music on its back porch. Brandon Rhyder, Clayton Gardner and Mike Gilbert will play an intimate acoustic concert free for the public. The Chicken has invited student veteran organizations from Texas A&M to set up and provide information about the services they offer. For more info, visit the Chicken's Facebook page.

The Dixie Chicken will also be selling T-shirts, with proceeds of the sales to be split between the Boot Campaign and the local veterans organization Brazos Valley Cares.

The Boot Campaign's CEO is a former A&M student, Robyn Payne '94. Read our profile of her at tx.ag/RobynPayne94.
