Texas A&M University System Chancellor Mike McKinney said this morning that he is stepping down from his post.
The announcement came in a memo to chief executive officers and staff members of the A&M System. The
full text of his memo can be read on the System website.
His resignation will be effective after the end of the current session of the Texas Legislature.
Board of Regents Chairman Richard Box '61 issued a
statement Tuesday, expressing his appreciation for McKinney's service.
“We will begin a process to identify the next chancellor of the A&M System in the near future," he said. "Our focus at this time, however, continues to be on the legislative session, working with Chancellor McKinney and our presidents and CEOs to ensure that
higher education is adequately funded for the next biennium.”
