Class of '65 55th Anniversary Reunion

March 5-7, 2020
College Station, TX

Printable Registration Form

Howdy, Class of '65 Ags!
Here’s hoping everyone had a Merry Christmas and good times with family and friends the past few weeks.  Now it’s time to get moving on an awesome 2020.  As you saw from newsletters and emails last year, 2020 is our last formal Class Year Reunion, and we will join the senior statesmen of The Association of Former Students-“The Sul Ross Group”.

With the help of a lot of Classmates, we’ve been making phone calls and encouraging everyone to make hotel reservations for the upcoming Sul Ross Group Reunion and the induction of the Class of ’65 on March 5-7.  Thanks to all of you who have helped to promote this significant event in our Aggie life.

The Sul Ross Group was organized in 1947 to include all former students who attended TAMC during the years Sul Ross was president of the college.  It grew by adding each Class as that Class attained 50 years (now 55 years) since graduation.  This organization provides legacy leaders, advisors and mentors to Texas A&M and The Association and it is very important in continuing the spirit, traditions and values upheld by true Aggies throughout the ages.  Your membership and involvement in the SRG is your pathway to continued participation in efforts to ensure the traditions we learned and participated in beginning in September 1961 as “fish” are maintained.  We can continue our support of A&M both individually and through our involvement in SRG beginning on March 5.

Please complete the Reunion registration NOW!  Don’t wait.  And if you haven’t made hotel reservations, do that now as well.  Join us and renew old friendships, get acquainted with SRG elder Ags who still come to these reunions from as far back as the 1940s and learn what is new on campus.  If you previously made hotel reservations for the reunion, that is great.  However, you still need to register for the Reunion by completing the registration form and mailing it in or by completing it online ASAP. Contact any one of us if you have questions.

Gary, Sonny and Frank

Howdy, SRG Ags!

A special Howdy to the great Elder Statesmen of Texas A&M, and welcome to the Class of 1965. It is great to be an Aggie. And it is time for us to gather in Aggieland to celebrate the 73rd Reunion of the Sul Ross Group.

It is a time to catch up on changes on the campus, to remember our days as students many years ago and to discover the challenges today’s students face in this fast moving world. We have great speakers for our scheduled events.  They will share with you what is happening today and in the future.  Plus we have a very special speaker for our banquet that will greatly relate to the Sul Ross Group. You will be surprised!

The campus is changing.  On Friday afternoon at the Hilton we have scheduled three showings of a virtual tour of Aggieland. Plan to attend one of these showings.  Class Hospitality Suites will be available. We have listened to your prior Reunion evaluations and worked to improve your Reunion experience.

It has been a great year for the Sul Ross Group.  We are an active, relevant part of Texas A&M. A&M was good to us in preparing us for the future, and now it is our turn to pay it forward. Come to the Reunion-meet old friends, revive some great memories, and remember our absent Classmates. They are still a part of our organization and in our thoughts. As a group, we are an asset to the future of Texas A&M. Let’s gather together and celebrate.

Gig ’em,
Tom Wisdom ’60
President Sul Ross Group

Are you prepared to explain to other Aggies, faculty and students just what the Sul Ross Group does for A&M?  Chances are it is time to hit the books!

You will receive a copy of the small white book "A Centennial Commemoration of Lawrence Sullivan Ross" by Lester T. Potter '28 at your Class induction to the Sul Ross Group. The Preface and Forward set the stage for the SRG.

The next fifty pages are about the life of Sul Ross. Amazing accomplishments starting during his age as a college student and military and public service. It culminates with his service as President of A&M and he is credited with why A&M is still exists today.

The last twenty five pages tell you just what the SRG is and our olbigations as members. This will provide you with ammunition to tell anyone just what we are as Elder Statesmen of A&M. Bruch up on our history.  It will be on the quiz.
