| Howdy, Young Alumni! The
Association of Former Students wants to keep you, our young former
students, up to date on ways to stay connected to the Aggie Network.
That’s why the Young Alumni Advisory Council (YAAC) was formed last year
to help guide The Association’s efforts. The council had a hand in
creating this newsletter to let you know about career resources, young
alumni travel opportunities, awards, and more. | | | A Note from the Young Alumni Advisory Council There
are about 115,000 Aggies who have graduated in the last 10 years, and
that number is growing rapidly. We hear about how powerful the Aggie
Network is, but for most young former students the question remains...
"How do I actually use the Aggie Network?"
One of the best ways for Young Alumni to get connected with the
Aggie Network is to join your local A&M Club. Getting connected with
local Aggies makes the Aggie Network more personal.
You can also find out who's hiring and which Aggies work at
a particular company, have an online mock interview, or spruce up your resumé with the Aggie Network's online career resources.
The Aggie Network is a resource you can trust. You have
given a lot to the university - Now let the Aggie Network work for you. | | | Career Change/Advancement Resources You Should Know About "Find an Aggie" Directory "Find an Aggie"

Originally from Yerington, Nev., I joined the United States
Army in 2000 and had the honor of serving with the U.S. Army's Third
Infantry Regiment, the Honor Guard. On September 11, 2001, I was in the
Pentagon when hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 was flown into the
building. After my military career I
attended Feather River Junior College in Quincy, Calif., where I led the
team in tackles for two seasons. I was offered a scholarship to Texas
A&M and so began my journey into the greatest network in the world.
While attending Texas A&M, I played in the 2006 and 2007 seasons and
was awarded the Pat Tillman Patriot Award my senior year. I graduated
in December of 2007 with a degree in agricultural leadership.
Upon graduation, the Aggie Network helped me start my
career as a plant manager for Trinity Industries, Inc. In 2011, I was
promoted to director of operations within Trinity’s LPG Container
division in which I managed four facilities in the U.S. and Mexico.
As my career focus changed I began to explore my options to
find a company more in line with my core values. I worked with The
Association to explore my options and used tools like “Find an Aggie” to
network with fellow alumni. I focused on Aggies in companies that I
thought shared my values and would be open to conveying their company’s
principles. In August of 2012, I found an Aggie with Zachry Industrial,
Inc. in San Antonio and began discussing what type of values Zachry
promoted. By the end of September I had accepted a job with Zachry and
was able to relocate my family to San Antonio to be near our extended
family. While at Texas A&M I met
my beautiful wife Courtney '08 and we recently had our first child on
February 8, 2013 – our son Hudson Thomas Dodge, Fighting Texas Aggie
Class of 2035. We are excited to stay involved in the greatest network
in the world and extend our service to fellow Aggies in the future. | | |
