Battle of the Bulge Tour & Grand Opening of the Texas Aggies Go To War Exhibit

December 7, 2014 - December 14, 2014

On December 16, 1944, over 200,000 German troops and nearly 1,000 tanks launched a counteroffensive that was intended to cut through the Allied forces in a manner that would turn the tide of the war in Hitler's favor. The Germans struck in the Ardennes Forest, a seventy-five-mile stretch of dense woods and few roads.  The battle that ensued is known historically as The Battle of the Bulge.  When it was over, Sir Winston Churchill stated, "This is undoubtedly the greatest American battle of the war and will, I believe, be regarded as an ever-famous American victory."

Texas A&M sent more soldiers and officers to fight in The Battle of the Bulge than any other school, and we will honor them and the more than 76,000 US Soldiers killed, wounded, or MIA in this campaign.  Join us as we spend a week in Luxembourg studying this important battle.  We’ll see many sites: from General Patton’s HQ, the Siegfried Line, the battlefields of Luxembourg and Bastogne, and the American Cemetery, to name a few.  The highlight of this tour will be the Grand Opening of the brand new Texas Aggies Go To War Exhibit in downtown Bastogne.
