Panama

March 21, 2014 - March 30, 2014

-     Tucked in between Mexico and South America are the small cluster of countries known as Central America. Actually a part of North America, this region comprises Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.  The Isthmus of Panama is the umbilical cord joining South and Central America. The emergence of the Isthmus of Panama over 300 million years ago remains one of the most significant events in the evolutionary history of the Western hemisphere. This integral land bridge has allowed thousands of different species to migrate between North and South America, and has become home to a staggering array of unique wildlife with a biodiversity paralleled by few places on Earth. Unlike many Latin American tourist areas, Panama’s lush rainforests, vibrant highlands and pristine beaches remain pure and unspoiled, making it the area’s best-kept secret.
