Mike first stepped foot on Texas A&M campus when he was just two years old. A. J. Havel, Mike’s dad, graduated in 1957, beginning the legacy of “The Havel Family” in Aggieland. Kathy and Mike call Dallas home, where they dated, married, and raised their family. Kathy graduated from SMU with a Bachelors in Math and UNT with a Masters in Counseling. Mike is an Industrial Technology graduate and the owner of Metro Custom Plastics, an Aggie 100 company. “The Havel Aggie Family” includes their daughter Christy ’03, son Andy ’05, daughter-in-law Lindsey ’05, and an extended family of Aggie Moms, Dads, and graduates who all love Texas A&M and all recognize the significance of the Aggie Ring.

“The Aggie Network is never more apparent than when one Aggie spots another Aggie by his or her Aggie ring. That moment of connection can occur anywhere – in an interview, at an airport, or sitting next to one another at church. We wanted to allow a graduate, who might not otherwise have been able to obtain one, to receive an Aggie ring and wear it proudly. Who knows where that next connection might lead? Gig ’em”

Attending Texas A&M on a tennis scholarship began a lifelong love of all things Aggie for Nathan '70. A&M played an important role in Nathan's life--the academics, tennis team dedication, Corps, and history of Texas A&M all contributed to preparing Nathan for his career in finance and business development in the Dallas area.

"The Endowed Ring Scholarship affords us the perfect opportunity each year to meet outstanding students while giving back to Texas A&M. Receiving the senior ring, following years of hard work and dedication, is a major goal for Aggies. To share this exciting time with the recipients is an honor."

The Jackie Price Dunn ’02 Endowed Memorial Ring Scholarship was created by her Price family, Johnny ’04, Martha and J. B., for Texas A&M University Women in Engineering who have participated in student organizations, leadership activities, and professional development programs.

Jackie's story as an "Aggie" began with a friendly spoken "Howdy!" at her first Aggie Saturday Orientation. It was a “Howdy!”, a simple friendly word spoken, which was the key that opened the door to the Aggie spirit for Jackie. Having close friends was a high priority for Jackie and friendship was center to Jackie’s Texas A&M experience. With a friendly “Howdy!”and a big Aggie smile, she hugged everyone she met.

In 2002, Jackie (Jacqueline) Price Dunn ’02 graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering/Business Administration, with Texas A&M University Honors and Foundation Honors. She received her Masters of Science in Biological & Agricultural Engineering, Texas A&M University Center for Agricultural Air Quality Engineering & Science, in 2004. As an Aggie, Jackie understood she was a part of something bigger than herself. She was an Aggie.

With enthusiasm, Jackie accepted the responsibility to represent the Texas A&M core values of loyalty and service, integrity and respect, excellence and leadership motivated by the love of God.

After graduation, Jackie worked as a Professional Engineer (PE), which included nine years as an environmental engineer with the United States Navy through their Naval Facilities Engineering Command. She also played the guitar in her church, was active in faith-based youth and ministry work, volunteered in her community through the Junior League of San Diego. Jackie was also the social program chair for the San Diego Aggie Club. She organized many Aggie Musters after graduation including the Aggie Muster in Naples, Italy in 2006.

Jackie’s greatest quality and strength was that she sought relationships motivated by love and respect for others as her first priority in all areas of her life and career. In her own words she wrote, “Keep loving everyone around ya’ & ministering in His love! Keep standing up for Him & blessing others in His name. Hugs & love, Jackie.” Her spirit of friendliness, hugs, and love were all an inspiration and strength to everyone she encountered.

She was committed to a lifetime of learning as a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. Jackie believed through continued personal development, she could strengthen not only her knowledge base and performance, but also the performance of the organizations she worked with as a whole. Jackie joined the Board of Directors for the San Diego Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). She had incredible impact on the Science Fair, Scholarship Program, Young Member group, and with the SAME budget. In honor of Jackie’s memory, SAME created a scholarship for women in architecture and engineering.

Jackie knew that she would not achieve her goals by sitting to the side waiting for someone to take action for her or to develop qualities for her. She knew the power of preparation, training and commitment to lifetime learning fueled by a desire for continual professional and personal development would be the keys to success in all facets of her life. She motivated and encouraged so many people to keep excelling, to keep trying, and to never give up!

Jackie also continually strived for “effective positive change” in the lives all people, young and old, in this world. Whether in family, faith, business, social, athletic, or educational endeavors, Jackie always “pushed the envelope of possibilities”. She sought to work with teams who also wanted to take hold of God’s “good vision” for positive change in their lives and the lives of others.

After the fatal earthquake which hit Haiti in early 2010, she volunteered for service as a civilian Environmental Engineer with the Navy. While in Haiti, Jackie reached across service lines to integrate work between engineers from the Navy, Army Corps of Engineers, United Nations, Air Force, and others. In May 2010, she received the Joint Civilian Service Achievement Award which was a Joint Medal signed by an Army General for her superior actions in Haiti as part of the Joint Task Force Team.

Jackie perceived challenges as opportunities. She was an example of faith in action. As a result, she was blessed with wisdom, understanding, and knowledge. Jackie mentored others to work hard and race into their future with enthusiasm, joy, peace, strength, and integrity united in love. In her blogspot, jackiepricedunn.blogspot.com, Jackie shared her thoughts, challenges, insights, vision, and revelation for others to benefit from. She wrote as one speaking directly to her friends and family as though she was having a one to one conversation with each reader.

One of her major passions was for women’s empowerment and mentorship. She encouraged many future Texas A&M women to seek degrees in Engineering. Jackie also understood the importance of mentoring youth. She was active in OPAS, Jr., her church youth groups, as well as youth groups within all the social and professional groups in which she was an active member.

Jackie was a woman of faith, praise and worship leader, visionary, youth mentor, woman’s empowerment mentor, philanthropist, author, poet, artist, singer, guitarist, dancer, scholar and engineer. Through the years after graduation, Jackie also became an aggressive athlete excelling in many different sports, including kickboxing, running in the Big Sur Marathon, and competing in several triathlons and cycling races. She also played the guitar in her church band, was active in youth and charity projects, and volunteered in her community through the Junior League of San Diego.

She was involved in so many activities: professional, social, family, and faith. Her focus, energy, attention, and determination rubbed off on everyone around her. She was always 110% in the moment she was in. She gave 110% to every project. Many people have reached further and achieved more because of her influence.

Jackie has left a permanent mark on the lives of many. Her memory will live on in their hearts, the “spirit that can ne’er be told”. She blessed others as she set inspiring examples in her life many will strive to follow. She never met a stranger, acted out of love and kindness, and used her gifts to serve others in need. Jackie embodied the Aggie spirit which will continue to be passed on through generations of future Aggies!

One of Jackie’s favorite songs to play on her guitar was ‘God of This City’ by Chris Tomlin, which could be described as a song to call for immediate action. Jackie continually sought opportunities to begin an enthusiastic plan for success to help those less fortunate. She sought answers to human trafficking in communities around the world. She was called to be God’s hands and feet in this world to “do something”. Jackie trusted in God’s good vision for mankind, and as a result, she acted with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, joy, and strength of character.

A close friend of Jackie’s described Jackie as one who made all the remarkable things she did unremarkable. In her humility and service, she would make the unachievable seem achievable and the unattainable---attainable. Her life was a lesson and example of perseverance. Jackie enthusiastically inspired others to dig deep and aim higher, believe in themselves, to not settle for anything less than their best, and to have fun! She lived her life as a role model to younger generations as well as to her peers and coworkers.

She continually engaged in business and leadership courses. Jackie’s involvement in student, professional, and leadership activities at Texas A&M University steered her towards her goal of becoming a technical business executive. In 1999, she participated in the NASA Undergraduate Reduced Gravity Student Flight Team as the team leader. She also participated in the Academy for Future International Leaders at the Bush School of Government and Public Service in 2000, and held the office of Executive Vice President for the MSC Executive Council.

Jackie embodied the qualities described in the lyrics of “The Spirit of Aggieland”, the alma mater of Texas A&M University, which will continue to be passed on through generations of future Aggies! Jackie has left a permanent mark on the lives of many. Her memory will live on in their hearts. She blessed others as she set inspiring examples in her life many will strive to follow. She never met a stranger, acted out of love and kindness, and used her gifts to bless and serve others in places of desperate need.

She was an organ and tissue donor through Donate Life CA/ Lifesharing ( http://donatelifecalifornia.org/jackie-price-dunn-memorial-campaign/ ). Jackie’s “Gift of Life” resulted in organ donations to six individuals and tissue donations to many other individuals. The Junior League of San Diego encourages its members, family and friends to follow Jackie’s lead in registering to become an organ donor.

Jackie has been honored by her Texas A&M Class of 2002 to represent the Class of 2002 in the Memorial Ring Collection, The Association of Former Students, William W. Clayton, Jr. Alumni Center, Neely Mezzanine, Legacy Exhibit. Many of Jackie’s family and friends shared memories of Jackie when her Aggie ’02 Ring was dedicated into the Memorial Ring Collection in a special Aggie Ring Dedication on October 4, 2015, at The Association of Former Students.

Jackie's story as an "Aggie" all began with a friendly spoken "Howdy!". It ended with a "Here!" for her Aggie Muster,…but God's good vision for Jackie lives on through all of the Aggies, family and friends she touched. A friendly word spoken, a "Howdy" based on loyalty and service, integrity and respect, excellence and leadership motivated by the love of God.

As an Aggie blessed by the love of God, Jackie proudly wore her Aggie ring. The third star of the five stars on the Aggie ring was designed to represent spiritual attainment which Jackie received in her daily life by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Fellowship in relationship with others formed the foundational bond which Jackie shared with her fellow Aggies and everyone she encountered. With her energetic smiles and hugs, faith, hope, and love will continue to be passed on through those she hugged, generations of Aggies in the future.

Our Jackie (Jacqueline Elaine) will always be remembered for her love for God, compassion for others, enthusiasm for life, strong will, relentless attitude, joyful smile and welcoming hugs. Jackie knew the power of God’s blessings of joy and strength in her life. She also knew it was vital to her and for others to keep standing up for and in Him in love. Love never fails.
