Jeffrey Allen Miller had always wanted to be an Aggie. He received his Master of Business Administration from Mays Business School in 1988 and was the recipient of the Mays Business School Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2012. Miller is also a member of the Dwight Look College of Engineering Advisory Council.

While at Texas A&M, Miller married his wife and started his eight-year career at Arthur Anderson. He is currently president of Halliburton. His best “new” memory of Texas A&M is watching his son, Sam Miller ’16, march in with the Corps of Cadets.

He is grateful to Texas A&M for helping him start his career and wants to give back and be an active part of the university.

His senior year of high school, big news was delivered to him in an envelope.Brad Worsham ’88 had thought it a long shot, but there it was in writing. He got the scholarship. More than helpful, he said, “I would not have attended Texas A&M without it.” The gravity of the gift hit him immediately, he said—Someone’s generous gift changed the course of his life. He’s never been the same since. He worked hard in school, not just for himself, but because of the great opportunity provided to him. And very quickly after graduating, he resolved to do the same for someone else. Aggieland was so good to him, he said. Because of the quality education and relationships that Texas A&M provided, “I was set up to be successful,” he said. Worsham was part of a coop program where he was able to work for the CIA while still a student. That opportunity set him up to work full-time for the CIA, and helped provide the experience and contacts to build a new business. He thinks of an infl uential professor who inspired him and taught him to fl y an airplane. He thinks of the meaningful friendships strengthened through the bond of the Aggie Spirit.“I’m proud to be part of the Aggie community,” he said.“You know, I look at some of my peers and the way they view the occasional solicitation from their university,” he said. They look at it as a burden. He takes it as an honor. “That is the manifestation of it,” he said.“Texas A&M really is different from any other place,” he said. “It’s Yell Practice. It’s all of those things that are in some respects cliché, it’s those things that make us different. Seeing our traditions through the eyes of friends and my own children as they experience them for the first time reinforces how special they are.”It’s Texas A&M, he said.

John Davis received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M, in 1987 and 1989, respectively. The university has always been a prominent part of his life, and although he is a first-generation Aggie, John always knew Texas A&M was the place for him. As a student, John particularly enjoyed attending home and away football games as well as Silver Taps ceremonies. From the memories he created on campus to the connections he now makes off campus, being an Aggie has always been a source of pride for John. “I feel a sense of pride when I see cars with Century Club stickers on them,” he said. “I feel that same sense of pride when I see another Aggie Ring or someone says ‘Gig ’em’ when I’m wearing my colors. That pride swells up and makes me feel so blessed to be an Aggie.” John’s wife, Clare, although not an Aggie herself, came to know what it meant to be one through her husband. She loved the university and was responsible for persuading a friend’s daughter to attend Texas A&M. The young woman served on Traditions Council as a student and she graduated in 2017. In May 2017, Clare lost a battle with breast cancer, but her legacy lives on. John established an Endowed Century Club gift in both of their names so that others could benefit from the Aggie legacy the two have created together.

We had been away from Texas and Texas A&M for a number of years. We returned with our young daughter to show her around, and the great memories returned, as well as the reminders of how much of a difference Texas A&M has made our lives. The biggest difference Texas A&M can make to the future is to develop leaders, researchers, and successful business professionals that are prepared to make an impact. Programs and activities supported by The Association are a fundamental part of accomplishing this goal.
