Through the A&M placement office I had a job waiting for me after graduation. In addition I received an Air Force Commission and an assignment to flight school. At that time in my life this was all I had dreamed for. I feel we all have an obligation to contribute and I want to pay my fair share.

Mike Briggs graduated from Texas A&M in 1960 with a Bachelor of Sciences in Geophysics. Upon graduating he then attended the United States Air Force Pilot Training, and the United States Air Force Fighter Weapons School. For five years Mike was a Fighter Pilot for the United States Air Force before returning to Texas A&M for his Masters of Sciences in Computer Science in 1967. Following graduation he worked as Director and part owner for Results, Inc., Dallas, Texas. Mike then worked for many outstanding businesses including, University Computing Corporation, First South Services, Information Processing Corporation, Mtech and Electronic Data Systems, and retired as an Associate Partner for Accenture in Dallas, Texas. Mike and Peggy illustrate the core values of Texas A&M through their selfless service through their Endowed Century Club. This is displayed through Mike and Peggy's description that, "As our grandkids begin to come to A&M and enjoy its many benefits, my wife and I have been reminded again how important it is to have a school like A&M not only to provide a first class education but, equally important, for the preservation of the fundamental values that formed our nation."

After earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University, Steve Brauer, Jr. ’02 worked as a design engineer in Houston. He returned to school for his master’s degree and served as operations project manager on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program at Lockheed Martin. In 2009, he joined Hunter Engineering Co., starting as a field representative and working his way up to executive vice president.



Brauer was honored by the College of Engineering for outstanding early professional achievement and now serves on the college’s National Advisory Council. He holds leadership positions both at Texas A&M and in his community, as a captain for the 12th Man Foundation’s Champions Council, a member of the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate and director of the Pitchfork Land & Cattle Co.



In addition to being a committed Century Club member since graduating, he has also supported Texas A&M through several major gifts: The Steve Brauer, Jr. ’02 Faculty Fellowship in Mechanical Engineering, a President’s Endowed Scholarship in the College of Agriculture, an Endowed Aggie Ring Scholarship and most recently an Endowed Century Club gift. “No other university has the deeply engaged alumni base the Aggies are known for,” he said. “The Association is the steward of that most sacred tradition and the reason we’re called former students and never former Aggies.”

Jimmie Bratton graduated from Texas A&M in 1964 with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering. As a student, Bratton was a member of Corps of Cadets Squadron 15, as well as a Ross Volunteer.

After completing his freshman year, he married Aileen, and several years later, while Jimmie Bratton was in graduate school, the couple welcomed their first son. The demands of school and a growing family kept the Brattons very busy. Still, Jimmie Bratton cites this time at A&M as creating the foundation of his career, providing him with both the knowledge and leadership skills needed to be successful.

“Texas A&M prepares its students to be successful in not just a profession but in life,” he said. “The principles, the ethics instilled in one at A&M are the foundation of a successful life.”

He received various scholarships over the years that enabled him to stay in school and for which he was always incredibly grateful. The impact of those scholarships and the life lessons he learned at A&M prompted Bratton to want to give another student the same positive Aggie experience.

From their first encounter in a political science class to their engagement under the Century Tree, Michael and Alicia fell in love with Texas A&M through the unbreakable bonds and impactful connections the institution has allowed them to create over the years.

Through learning opportunities with professors and with companies in the private sector, Michael attributes his success in his professional career to his education at A&M. He graduated from A&M with a degree in mechanical engineering and is an asset manager for ExxonMobil.

He said that connections to A&M, coupled with its excellence in education and developing people, make it natural for him to give back to the university. “My wife and I have always been interested in giving, and we believe it is one of the responsibilities of being good and contributing part of the greater community,” Michael said.

The Bowens continue to share their love for A&M with their extended family, including children Rachel Bowen ’17 and Samuel Bowen ’21.

He is currently stationed at Hurlburt Field as a Navigator on Gunships. Kristin graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Communications and then earned her Master’s in Business Administration at the University of West Florida in 2010. She then worked for the Tesoro Corporation as a Tax Analysis and is currently a Recruiting Director for Absolute Consulting. Kristin and Kevin state that, “Texas A&M has always held a special place in our hearts. It shaped us as young adults and readied us for the business world and military service. We met as counselors for Fish Camp and have always enjoyed seeing the next generation of Aggies take their place on campus. Texas A&M will continue to be an integral part of our lives and the lives of our families for many years to come. We enjoy giving to an institution that gave us so much.” Kristin and Kevin are giving back through their endowment as they are inspiring many Texas Aggies that are still yet to come.

In giving an Endowed Century Club gift to Texas A&M, they want to enable future students to have a great Aggie experience. Annette and Richard work in the oil and gas industry in Texas and Annette says that her geology degree and Aggie contacts have been essential to her career. They have both received Texas Professional Geoscientist and AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist awards. Annette is currently a division geophysicist and Richard is currently a consulting geologist.

He has been in the insurance business since he graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Business Administration. In 1972 he attended the US Army Field Artillery School, in Fort Still, Oklahoma. Jerry was President of the San Antonio A&M Club in1991, President of The Association of Former Students in 1999, as well as an Auction Committee Member for the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.

It is important that The Association continue to grow, remain strong and independent. Legacy is the foundation of A&M. Legacy built the Aggie family and developed the Aggie Network. The Association needs the support of all former students in order to be in a position to insure that the traditions and values that are our cornerstone remain so.

David is currently employed with ExxonMobil as a Tax Attorney. Aggieland holds a special place in the hearts of David and Vickie as this is where they met and established life-long friendships. Willy F. Bohlmann, Jr. ’50 graduated from Texas A&M University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering. While at A&M, he was President of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was a Ross Volunteer. In 1992 he retired as President of Esso China, Ltd. after serving 41 years with Exxon affiliate companies. Willy also had a successful dual career with the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired with the rank of colonel in 1980. He has been

awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Department of Civil Engineering’s Distinguished Graduate Award,

and was recognized in the Corps of Cadets Hall of Honor.

From the time I set foot on campus in May 1945, it was the strong esprit de corps that made an impact. The “spirit” gave me a feeling of camaraderie among class members and fellow students. Being an Aggie opened doors to other Aggies in a worldwide network. It is a good feeling to be a part of the world’s largest fraternity.
