She currently serves as vice chair of the One Spirit One Vision Campaign and chairs the College of Education portion of that campaign. The Lohmans have also supported Texas A&M monetarily through gifts to the 12th Man Foundation, the College of Education, the College of Engineering as well as through a Presidential Endowed Scholarship.

We believe the future of our state and nation hinges on developing an educated population, particularly leaders. We also believe our most valuable resource is our young people. It gives us great satisfaction to invest in the future through impacting these youthful lives in meaningful ways. An education obtained at Texas A&M has made all the difference in our lives and we believe it will have a similar influence on the thousands of students who place their faith in the education system of Texas A&M. Carolyn’s Dad was an Aggie, class of ’40, the first of his family to graduate college. He instilled in her the value of education and a love of Texas A&M. Tommie’s dad encouraged him to attend A&M rather than OU because of his belief that the values instilled at this university would serve him as well as the excellent education he had the opportunity to acquire here. Our life experiences have proven them both correct. We want to enable other young people to have the same type opportunities. Education changes lives and shapes the future. We love the idea as well the actual experience of witnessing that happening regularly here at A&M. For all of us, what could be a better investment of our resources than having the opportunity to do that?

Don Moore ’59 graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. Upon graduation, he served active duty in the United States Air Force for three years. In 1962, he joined Chevron and worked 15 years in various engineering and management positions. My Dad attended A&M for a short period during WWI under a government funded officer candidate program. The program was terminated when the war ended and my Dad had to drop out of A&M for financial reasons. But he always loved the school and I knew that he wanted me to attend A&M. Although I initially planned to go to TU, and my Dad had agreed to this, his love of A&M ultimately convinced me to attend A&M. His subtle influence led me to make the correct decision on where to go to college.

Tulsa, OK

It’s my bottom-line policy,” said Grady Ash’58. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” That’s what Ash said he was thinking when he made the decision to join the Endowed Century Club. “Besides, I like A&M,” he said. “I like Aggies.” There’s something special about Aggies, he said. It’s in the way they shake your hand—“Aggies shake hard,” he said. They say what they mean and mean what they say, and they have a solid military past, present and future. “Here’s the main thing,” he said. “Everyone has a hero. For me, my heroes have always been of the military type.” Because of A&M’s strong patriotic and military tradition, “I’ve always seen A&M as something special.”

So when high school graduation came, and college was the next step, “I wanted to be an Aggie in Aggieland,” he said. So, that’s what he did, and—in the process of earning degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration—picked up a series of skill sets that would help him successfully grow his own company. He is the owner of AG Equipment Co. However, before starting that endeavor, Ash served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. “Got to respond to the flag,” he said. “I was born a Texas Aggie and derive a lot of satisfaction on helping others,” he said, especially when he can help students “go for the gusto,” and join the Aggie family. He has an arsenal of memories from his time at A&M, but his favorite is when his hard work paid off and he graduated. He was the first from his family to attend and graduate from Texas A&M, and he’s dedicated to making sure others who have a love for his school, get the chance to experience it.
