Syd Heaton greaduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences in 1961 and in 1962 his Masters of Sciences. While attending Texas A&M Syd was a Distinguished Student, Distinguished military Student, and Corp Commander in 1961. After graduation, he served in the military and later worked for IBM Corporation for 35 years. During which he worked many assignments around the country in sales and sales management. Syd has served on numerous Boards of Directors and Boards of Trustees including Univerisity of Tampa, Tri-Base Corporation, Alternative Resources Corporation, Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and Texas A&M College of Business Advisory Council. Syd and his wife Judy have four children and nine grandchildren.

Charles L. Jackson graduated from the A&M College of Texas in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in modern languages. From 1961 to 1987, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Texas, Arizona, Vietnam, Virginia, Germany, Nebraska, Greece and Turkey. Among his decorations are the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Commendation Medal. After the service, he was a travel market analyst until he retired.

“I would not trade my Aggie Ring and diploma for a Ph.D. from any other university in the world,” Jackson says. It is important to him and his wife to show their appreciation for what Texas A&M means to them by helping other young Aggies who need financial support.

Dan Kasprowicz graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1961. In 1962, Dan enlisted in the United Stated Air Force, stationed at Kelly AFB and Misawa AFB in Japan. Dan received the Air Force Commendation Medal and retired as Captain in 1967. He then went to work for Armco Steel, in Houston as an engineer. In 1968, Dan went to work at Southwest Bell Telephone and retired from there 25 years later as the Division Manager-Network.

A&M gave me the opportunity to grow, learn and mature. I learned the values of friendship and duty. I hope someone will benefit from their time at A&M as I was fortunate to do. The bond between Aggies always meant you could find a friend wherever your life’s journey took you. The Aggie Network is a living, breathing reality.

William W. Latimer, Jr. ’61 graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. Latimer began his investment company in 1971 as President of Latimer Enterprises, Inc. Since 1988, he has served as the President for the Gulf Coast Water Authority since 1988. He was a City of Dickinson Councilman from 1999 until 2002 and served on the board of managers for S&L Cogeneration Co. from 1990 until 1996.

My education and experience at Texas A&M was one of the most important times in my life. Texas A&M is very important to me. Both my children, Craig ’84 and Leslie ’87, graduated from A&M and I wanted to give something in return to this outstanding university. I am proud to be an Aggie — it’s such a special place, like none other.

Richard Powell became the President of Phoenix Manufacturing Inc. in 1984 after 6 years as President of Duo-Sales Inc. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.



Susan completed a double degree in History and English at Texas A&M. She designed and coordinated production of quilts used to raise funds for the Singing Cadets and the Sterling Evans Library. She is a Past President of the Plano A&M Mother’s Club and served on the Executive Board of the Federation of Texas A&M Mothers’ Clubs.

He has held various positions in Engineering and Operations with the latest being Manager of Measurement in Houston, Texas. Mr. Smith received the Laurance Reid Award in 2002 for his contributions in the field of Hydrocarbon Measurement.

I wanted to contribute to The Association of Former Students and help them continue the important functions they perform for Texas A&M University. It is important to give back to Texas A&M so that it can continue to be one of the finest universities in the USA.

After his 35 years of Navy service, he retired in 1996 as chief of staff to the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He is senior vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank, responsible for its Houston’s branch. Smith is actively involved as a Texas A&M former student as an ardent supporter and past president of The Association of Former Students and the Dallas A&M Club and past chairman of the Texas A&M Foundation.

Grateful for his experience at Texas A&M, Dr. Edward Spencer has always admired how Aggies continuously care for one another.

While a student at Texas A&M, he served as a Ross Volunteer and a member of MSC SCONA and the Texas A&M Pre-Med Society. Dr. Spencer said he cherishes his days as a freshman in a Corps Army outfit while “living on the top floor of the cracked battleship dorm with two floors of Air Force outfits below him.”

He went on to serve in the Vietnam War shortly after finishing medical school at UT Southwestern, then eventually opened his own private dermatology practice and later served as the president of the Texas Dermatology Society.

Dr. Spencer welcomed his wife Carolyn into the Aggie family, and they would share the Aggie Spirit with their three sons, Brent ‘00, Todd ‘93 and Scott ’91, are of whom all are now practicing physicians in Texas.

Dr. Spencer said being an Aggie has had a positive impact on his life by reinforcing the values that were taught to him as a child while bringing him lifelong friendships.

Edward C. “Pete” Aldridge, Jr. ’60, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from Texas A&M and a Master’s degree in the same field from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1962. As a student, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, the Institute of Aerospace Sciences, Sigma Gamma Tau Aerospace Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and the Shreveport Hometown Club.



Aldridge’s distinguished 42-year career in the aeronautics field included 18 years of service in the Pentagon under three separate presidential administrations. He served as the director of Planning and Evaluation, as Under Secretary and then Secretary of the Air Force, and finally as the under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. He also served as president of McDonnell Douglas Electronic Systems Company from 1988-1992 and as president and CEO of The Aerospace Corporation from 1992-2001.



Aldridge was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, presented the Wright Brothers Memorial Trophy by the National Aeronautic Association and has been a volunteer and contributor to dozens of educational and non-profit organizations. He is an Honorary Fellow and Past President of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.



Active in his support to Texas A&M, Aldridge has donated generously to the Department of Aerospace Engineering and is an Endowed Century Club member with The Association of Former Students.



He is a native of Shreveport, La., and currently lives in Arlington, VA with his wife, Jody. They have three sons; Michael, David, and Mark; a daughter, Lori Aldridge-Boyd; and six grandchildren.

Upon graduating he then attended the United States Air Force Pilot Training, and the United States Air Force Fighter Weapons School. For five years Mike was a Fighter Pilot for the United States Air Force before returning to Texas A&M for his Masters of Sciences in Computer Science in 1967. Following graduation he worked as Director and part owner for Results, Inc., Dallas, Texas. Mike then worked for many outstanding businesses including, University Computing Corporation, First South Services, Information Processing Corporation, Mtech and Electronic Data Systems, and retired as an Associate Partner for Accenture in Dallas, Texas. Mike and Peggy illustrate the core values of Texas A&M through their selfless service through their Endowed Century Club. This is displayed through Mike and Peggy's description that, "As our grandkids begin to come to A&M and enjoy its many benefits, my wife and I have been reminded again how important it is to have a school like A&M not only to provide a first class education but, equally important, for the preservation of the fundamental values that formed our nation."

McGee has also received several awards, including recognition as an Outstanding Alumnus of Texas A&M’s College of Agriculture & Life Sciences in 2005. Meacham presently serves as mayor of the City of Cameron, has served as a trustee of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and as a board member of the Texas Bankers Association.

I cannot express what Texas A&M means to me. I owe this great university so much for helping to make me the person I am today. From 1975 to 2007, Gale served as president and CEO of Oliver Equipment Co. in Houston. During his tenure, OEC won top sales awards nationally for Sundstrand Pumps Compressors, as well as several other specialty pumps and equipment. Sundstrand is a division of United Technologies. Gale has served on several boards including, The Association of Former Students and the 12th Man Foundation, and as president of Lakeside Country Club. Upon completion of his master’s degree, Glasscock entered active duty with the U.S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and was later promoted to First Lieutenant. Glasscock began his career at Mobil Chemical Co. and later Texas Olefins Co. In 1980 Glasscock and his wife, Susie, founded Texas Aromatics, Inc., where he serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. Glasscock’s love of his university is evident by his establishment of the Melbern G. Glasscock Center for Humanities Research whose dedication is to foster and celebrate the humanities and its research among Texas A&M scholars and all academia.

After a successful 26 year career in the U.S. Air Force, Harvey Haas is a retired Colonel who earned the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. His assignments included Texas A&M ROTC detachment, Germany, Guam, and Vietnam. He served as Vice President for property management at Hibernia National Bank in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and taught mathematics in Comal Independent School District. Haas was a Co-Class Agent and established a Sul Ross Scholarship at Texas A&M.

In 1974 Fred completed his academic career at the Southern Methodist University School of Law. Through the knowledge that he obtained, he was able to have an outstanding career as the President and General Counsel at MiTek Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri and London, England to being an attorney-at-law in his private practice at Dallas, Texas. Fred exemplifies the characteristics of a true Aggie as he has given back to the University that has allowed him to make such an impact.

Herman R. Lloyd '59 graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. After working for International Paper Company, Lloyd spent 29 years with J.H. Strain & Sons, a highway construction company responsible for building parts of I-20, I-10 and other road projects in west Texas. In 1963, he started Contractors Service Company; fifty years later, the company would be the second oldest traffic control firm in Texas. In 1989, Lloyd became president of Half Moon Land and Cattle Company, as well as starting Lloyd Farms, expanding his cattle and wheat production in Fisher, Haskell and Taylor counties. During his time here, he served on the board of directors for Ben Richey Boys Ranch, AGC of Texas and 18 years on the board of trustees for McMurry University. While Lloyd was the first of his family to graduate from Texas A&M, his two sons, Randy ’83 and Wendel ’85, and two grandsons, Hunter ’13 and Taylor ’15, followed in his footsteps.
