I feel that being an Aggie has helped me in my career. Everywhere you turn, you run into other Aggies. It gives you an advantage that people from other schools don’t have. Aggies really stick together. I am inspired by my dad, L.C. “Chaz” Neely, Jr. ’62, to give back to A&M. He was the first in a growing family of Aggies to attend A&M. We are all grateful to have gone to A&M, so we want to contribute to A&M’s greatness for the future.

Our family’s Endowed Diamond Century Club membership is dedicated to, and in honor of, my father, Samuel L. Neal, Jr. and our grandfather, Samuel L. Neal, Sr. Although the depression kept him from leaving the family farm to attend Texas A&M, our grandfather received his masters degree in sociology from Texas A&M in 1950, worked for the A&M Agricultural Extension Service for over 30 years and proudly wore his Aggie Ring everyday of his life. He was the first of three generations bearing his name to graduate from Texas A&M, and was so proud of his two grandchildren, who followed him to Texas A&M. He passed away in 1976. Texas A&M is a great part of our family, and keeping the “Aggie Spirit” alive for generations to come through his seven great-grandchildren is a part of our heritage.

We have always wanted to give back to A&M in a meaningful way and we have been blessed to be able to do it now. We are where we are today in part because of our time in Aggieland. Our fondest memory is definitely Bonfire. The mud, the burning sofas, the cigars – all great! But the years we were there were pretty special – the winning streak against tu, the ’89 baseball team. It’s hard to single something out, but still Bonfire is the fondest of all.

Don Moore ’59 graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. Upon graduation, he served active duty in the United States Air Force for three years. In 1962, he joined Chevron and worked 15 years in various engineering and management positions. In 1977, he joined the Gruy Companies in Dallas and subsequently worked for several Dallas-based independent oil and gas firms before retiring in 2002. My Dad attended A&M for a short period during WWI under a government funded officer candidate program. The program was terminated when the war ended and my Dad had to drop out of A&M for financial reasons. But he always loved the school and I knew that he wanted me to attend A&M. Although I initially planned to go to TU, and my Dad had agreed to this, his love of A&M ultimately convinced me to attend A&M. His subtle influence led me to make the correct decision on where to go to college.
