Texas A&M has always been a part of my life, as my father (Robert C. Zivney ’47) first taught me what it meant to be an Aggie. Following graduation, I feel the education, values, character and traditions obtained from A&M are in large part responsible for the subsequent career and personal successes Nancy and I had since graduation. This gift is a small gesture of appreciation for how Texas A&M has impacted our lives.

Being an Aggie is being a part of something very special. First of all the “ring” is recognized around the world by Aggies as well as many in the general population and with a that comes a recognition that this person is different and can be trusted and relied on in business or life. In every walk of life I have taken, all that know me know that I am an Aggie and proud of it. It helps to define who I am. Giving back to this great University seems only natural, as it trained me in so many ways to be better prepared for life in industry and life in general. I owe my success to my family and many other supporters in my life, but the University played a major role in that success. Keeping the “Spirit” alive is a responsibility of Aggies everywhere.

John earned his Bachelor's in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 1993. Following his graduation, John attended the University of Texas School of Law, and in 1996 he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence. In 1992 Michele earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English from Texas A&M.

John is the first in his family to graduate from college. After visiting A&M John loved the atmosphere and tradition rich environment of the school. For Michele, Texas A&M is a family tradition that she is thrilled to foster in our kids. Michele is 3rd generation Aggie with a grandfather (class of ’29), father (’63), and brother (’89) that are all graduates of Texas A&M.

John worked at several firms while living in Houston before opening the law firm Wray, Willett & Stoffer in 2002 with focus on real estate, probate and banking. John is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law. In addition, John owns a title company in Ellis County, and together Michele and John operate a real estate business.

Michele and John are active in the community and have served on and chaired numerous boards and organizations. John is a past city councilman and mayor of Waxahachie and currently the State Representative-Elect to the Texas House of Representatives for District 10 representing Ellis and Henderson Counties.

We owe much of our success to lessons learned in academics and leadership while attending Texas A&M. Texas A&M instills in its students both a strong allegiance to the University and the sense that it is our duty to serve those around us. It is in this spirit of giving back that we decided to make this gift to the Association of Former Students. Michele and I have been blessed with many opportunities, and it is only right that we should provide a helping hand to Aggie students striving for their own successes. It is important to give back to A&M because this University is truly educating the leaders of tomorrow. The opportunities available at Texas A&M are unparalleled. A degree from Texas A&M makes a powerful statement and has opened many doors since our days on campus. There’s nothing like comparing the class year on Aggie rings to get a conversation started, and those conversation have led to lifelong friendships, business ventures, and trips down memory lane. Although Michele and I knew each other before college, we began dating while attending A&M. We love coming back to College Station, and we became engaged on campus during a trip back to watch an Aggie football game. Today we have season tickets to the football games and enjoy making the trip to campus as a family with our children Morgan and Patrick. Experiencing the excitement and Aggie Spirit of game day together has become one of our favorite family traditions. - John C. Wray '93

His senior year of high school, big news was delivered to him in an envelope.Brad Worsham ’88 had thought it a long shot, but there it was in writing. He got the scholarship. More than helpful, he said, “I would not have attended Texas A&M without it.” The gravity of the gift hit him immediately, he said—Someone’s generous gift changed the course of his life. He’s never been the same since. He worked hard in school, not just for himself, but because of the great opportunity provided to him. And very quickly after graduating, he resolved to do the same for someone else. Aggieland was so good to him, he said. Because of the quality education and relationships that Texas A&M provided, “I was set up to be successful,” he said. Worsham was part of a coop program where he was able to work for the CIA while still a student. That opportunity set him up to work full-time for the CIA, and helped provide the experience and contacts to build a new business. He thinks of an infl uential professor who inspired him and taught him to fl y an airplane. He thinks of the meaningful friendships strengthened through the bond of the Aggie Spirit.“I’m proud to be part of the Aggie community,” he said.“You know, I look at some of my peers and the way they view the occasional solicitation from their university,” he said. They look at it as a burden. He takes it as an honor. “That is the manifestation of it,” he said.“Texas A&M really is different from any other place,” he said. “It’s Yell Practice. It’s all of those things that are in some respects cliché, it’s those things that make us different. Seeing our traditions through the eyes of friends and my own children as they experience them for the first time reinforces how special they are.”It’s Texas A&M, he said.
