Scott Christopher Barnes

October 1, 1993 - February 23, 2023

Scott Christopher Barnes of Dallas, Texas, devoted husband and son was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 23, 2023.

Born October 1, 1993 in Dallas, Texas, Scott was the only child of adoring parents, Randi and Shepard Barnes.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Diane and William Barnes of St. Louis, Missouri and Betty and George Scheel of Dallas, Texas as well as his aunt, Cynthia Lueck of St. Louis, Missouri.

Scott attended the Greenhill School in Addison, Texas from pre-school until graduation in 2012. He loved team sports. Scott played basketball, football, soccer and was captain of the Greenhill lacrosse team. He was a natural athlete, and from a very young age, was known for his standing backflip as well as tricks off the diving board at Brookhaven Country Club.

Spending time in Colorado and at St. Johns in the Bahamas was a favorite of Scott's as well as the traditional yearly St. Louis Christmas trips followed by Padre Island New Year's celebrations. He enjoyed these special times with family.

Scott distinguished himself at Texas A&M University, obtaining an undergraduate and master's degree in accounting while enjoying his affiliation with Delta Tau Delta. After graduation in 2017, Scott became a Certified Public Accountant and joined KPMG, where he worked for two years. In 2019, he joined Stonelake Capital Partners as the assistant controller and, in 2021, embarked upon a successful career as a public securities investor.

Scott truly loved his many friends and was happiest when surrounded by them and considered them family. He met the love of his life, Jane Marie Jenevein, in 2018 at the birthday party for his lifelong friend Travis Bryan, and they become inseparable. Soon after, they added Rebel, a miniature Australian shepherd, to their home. On April 9, 2021, surrounded by loving family and friends, and with whales breaching in the sea behind them, Scott and Jane Marie married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Jane Marie was Scott's perfect match. They shared a love of travel, adventure and entertaining their many friends on the rooftop of their new home. Together they embraced life, traveling to Las Vegas, Austin and Miami for bachelor and bachelorette parties; music locals in Austin and Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State; seeing friends in Colorado; relaxing in the Caribbean and exploring various places in Mexico, Texas and other destinations for fun and most importantly, to celebrate many engagements, parties and weddings of their friends and other loved ones. At home, they loved taking Rebel to the dog park and hanging out with their many friends. Scott was a dear friend to many and was loved by all.

Scott is survived by his loving and beloved wife, Jane Marie Barnes; his devoted parents, Randi and Shepard Barnes; his in-laws Terrie and Chris Bryan and Susan and Bob Jenevein; his brothers- and sisters in-law Alex Bryan, Travis Bryan, Julia Jenevein and her fiancé Ben Reichert, Scully Jenevein, Meghan McCutchan, Libby McCutchan and Connor McCutchan; his uncles Charles M. Barnes and William Rumsey Barnes of St. Louis, Missouri; his aunt and uncle Peggy and Mark Scheel of Houston, Texas; his cousins Brian Scheel, Jeffrey Scheel and Gregory Scheel of Houston, Texas, as well as Virginia Juelich and her husband Gary, and Russell Barnes of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by a large number of loyal friends, you know who you are.

Services will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, at 3 p.m. in the main sanctuary on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Rev. Matt Tuggle will be presiding.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to our extended family and friends for all their support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the sports program at Mercy Street at mercystreetdallas.org
