Robert Askew Reeder

October 31, 1950 - August 21, 2022

Robert "Bob" Askew Reeder, 71, of Houston, TX, suddenly and peacefully passed away in his sleep on August 21st, 2022. Bob was born on October 31st, 1950 to Jesse and Shirley Reeder in Ithaca, NY.

After graduating from Orem High School (Utah) in 1969, he went on to receive his BS and MS in Chemistry from Brigham Young University and his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Texas A&M University. After receiving his doctorate, he went to work for Bayer AG in the Houston area, going on to become a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Industrial Hygienist. Though he changed companies over time, Bob remained in the Houston area for the remainder of his life.

On New Year's Eve, 1984, he met Christine Magner; proposed to her on Valentine's Day, 1985; and they wed for time and eternity in June of that year in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have 4 children, Ashley, Michael, Heather and Steven. After retiring in 2019, Bob spent his time volunteering for his church and community. He enjoyed his favorite hobbies of collecting music and movies, and loving his children and 6 grandchildren.

Bob is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Kent. He is survived by his wife, Christine Reeder; his siblings William "Bill", Deborah "Debbie" and Jesse "Loren"; his four children, Ashley (David) Ochoa, Michael (Malinda) Reeder, Heather (Samuel) Decker and Steven Reeder; and his 6 grandchildren, Felicity, Lillie, Connor, Jesse, George and Rose.

A viewing was held for the public on August 26th from 7PM-9PM at Crowder Funeral Home in Webster (111 E Medical Center Blvd) and services were held on August 27th at 11AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Clear Lake (1802 Gunwale Rd) with an additional viewing from 10-10:30 immediately before the services.
