Arthur Tompkins Moore, Jr. 

July 27, 1940 - January 26, 2023

Arthur Tompkins Moore, Jr. was born on July 27, 1940 to Arthur Tompkins Moore, Sr. and Bernice Terrell in Hempstead, Texas in Waller County. His younger sister, Ann, joined the family a few years later. Arthur's father was a rural mail carrier and president of the Citizen State Bank of Hempstead and his mother was a teacher and homemaker.

Arthur graduated as valedictorian from Hempstead High School in 1958. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University. He was a proud Aggie who graduated in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with high honors and was in Company E-1 of the Corps of Cadets. After graduating, he served as a 1st Lieutenant and Captain in the US Army, spending one year stationed in Korea.

While working as an engineer for Humble Pipeline Company, he completed a master's in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston and became a professional engineer. Arthur met the love of his life, Charlotte Campbell, in Houston and they married in 1969, remaining married until his death.

Arthur completed a law degree from South Texas College of Law in the evenings, graduating in 1973 summa cum laude and was a member of the State Bar of Texas. He was also a Registered Professional Land Surveyor. Arthur and Charlotte raised daughter Angela and son David in Livingston and later in Longview and Sugar Land. He began his law career with Jones, Tanner, and Pace in Livingston, Texas. He later worked for KN Energy, Amax Oil & Gas and numerous law firms in Houston as a title attorney.

Arthur went to be with our Lord and Savior after a brief illness on January 26, 2023, at the age of 82.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Charlotte, daughter Angela, son David, daughter-in-law, Megan and grandchildren, Eliza and Jacob. He is also survived by his sister, Ann and brother-in-law Robert Croyle and their children Kristin and Bobby; his sister-in-law Martha Campbell and her children Lea Ann And Rob, as well as many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Diboll, Texas (5632 FM 1818, Diboll, Texas 75941). A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, P. O. Box 608, Diboll, Texas 75941 for the Memorial Contribution in Honor of Arthur Moore.
