Raymond H. Lammert, Jr. (Ray) passed away on February 26, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 29, 1934, to Raymond and Nelda Mueller Lammert near Clifton, Texas.

Ray was very active in the FFA at Clifton High School showing hogs in livestock shows across Texas and received the FFA Lone Star Farmer Award. After graduation at age 15 from Clifton High School, he entered Texas A&M University receiving a degree in Range and Forestry.

After graduation, he attended Naval Officer Training School in Newport, Rhode Island, and became an officer in the United States Navy serving as a navigator on planes including four years in Guam. He continued in the Navy Reserves for twenty years receiving the rank of Captain.

While working as a Soil Conservation employee in Eden, Texas, he met a ranch owner’s daughter, Lucille Royal in Menard, Texas. They were married on February 21, 1960, in Menard. As opportunities arose, Ray began working with the Equitable Life Insurance Company and then in banking and real estate.

While living in Boerne, Ray served on the School Board and other volunteer activities in the community. He presently was a member of First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio and of the Aggie Club.

Ray enjoyed working with the Soil Conservation Service to practice the correct way to manage a ranch. They had a ranch near Menard where he spent many hours in maintenance of the pastures and providing a deer lease to many.

Ray’s pride and joy was his family. He was very faithful to his parents until their passing, and he was a very loving and protective brother to his one sister.
