James Michael Herring
December 5, 1961 - December 6, 2022
James Michael Herring passed away December 6, 2022 at his home in San Antonio. He was born December 5, 1961 to Marjorie and Alton Herring in San Antonio. He is survived by brothers Lee (Betsy) and Jack (Anne) and sister Jane Mowrey.
Jim was a 1983 graduate of Texas A&M where he studied Engineering Technology. He was employed by the Department of Defense working in San Antonio and Oklahoma City until his retirement in April 2022.
Jim had an extremely kind and generous spirit. His siblings were in awe of the depth and breadth of his knowledge. He possessed a droll sense of humor that kept us in stitches. He was a devoted son who checked daily on his Mother’s well being until her passing a few years ago. Jim valued his family and always came up with the most unique and generous gifts.
Jim was a Texan to his core. He was devoted to its music, cuisine (see BBQ), and its independent patriotic spirit. He was an avid collector of custom knives and was well regarded among the community of custom makers.
