Max Burton Green
July 15, 1932 – June 26, 2022

Max Burton Green, 89, of Dallas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 26, 2022.

Max was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma, July 15, 1932. Max grew up in Breckenridge, Texas, and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950.

He went on to The A & M College of Texas (Texas A & M) and earned B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Range & Forestry in 1954 with a Master of Science in Physics following in 1960.

He met his cherished wife, Marilyn Hartmann in Fredericksburg while working for the Soil Conservation Service after graduation. The 2 married in 1955 and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary 3 weeks after Marilyn passed away in 2020. Marilyn’s passing was the greatest heartache of Max’s life.

Max went to work for Texas Instruments in the early 60’s and remained a faithful employee until his retirement in 1991. At TI he was a key contributor to a highly successful classified military development program where he designed and evaluated leading-edge airborne radar technology. Max was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at TI.

Max was a devoted lifelong Aggie and brought his mother Maxine and wife Marilyn along for the ride. He looked forward to every summer when Dave Campbell’s Football Magazine hit the newsstand so that he could find out all the information about the coming Aggie Football season and rarely missed games that were on TV. Max was a Texas Master Gardener with a particular love of fruit and nut trees. He also spent his time as a gun-stock maker, rifleman, reloader, wine maker, hunter and was an avid cruciverbalist.

Max was a good man who took great care of his family. Max was baptized when he was a young boy and was a long-time member of Central Lutheran Church. Most of the time he was a real sweetheart but he could also be cantankerous if something didn’t go the way he thought it should. He was very loved by his family and friends and will be missed by us all.

Max was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Corinne Green, his infant son, Joel Turner Green, brother Joy Chapman Green and his parents, Arthur Green and Maxine Green.

Max is survived by his children and grandchildren. Jennifer Green, Garland, Eric and Maryann Green, Allen, Janice and Paul Balkenbush, Durant, Oklahoma. Max was Pappy to Joel B. Green, Allen, Hannah and Katie Balkenbush, Durant, Oklahoma and extended family and friends.
