Roll Call Tribute

Danny "Dan" Davison '69 March 7, 2023 12:19 PM updated: March 7, 2023 12:31 PM

Danny Davison
September 6, 1940 — November 2, 2022

A friend said, “It’s hard to believe there can be a Texas without Dan D." - our family’s sentiments exactly!

Dan loved his career in Beef Cattle ranching, but he started life playing football at every recess from first grade on, winning all but their final football game for Royse City High School, Texas. In 2017, he was an original inductee in the Royse City Hall of Fame, and he was humbly honored.

College football included a scholarship to Texas A&M, then to East Texas State at Commerce, Texas. Returning to Aggieland, he received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and made major contributions to the AI field at the Texas Agricultural Research Station in Angleton. He moved on to Dow Chemical, where he managed a private herd of Angus cattle for Mr. Beutel, a founder of Dow. His final career path was managing a 250,000-acre beef cattle ranch for an independent oil and gas company.

His love of cattle was super-ceded only by his fierce competitive gene, loving to be able to out sprint his grandsons for years.

Proud father, husband, grandfather to six and great grandfather to two; Dan is survived by his his wife of nearly 62 years, Lee of Bryan, Texas - what a pair! He was most proud of his four children and their families, which include his son Dart of College Station, Evy of North Carolina, and Daniel of Georgia; his son James, wife Karen, and daughter Jaycie of Gonzales, TX; his son Cole, wife Whitney, and daughters, Letti Ruth and Milli Rae of Stephenville, Texas; his daughter Cynthia D. Lacy, husband Phillip, and son Asa of College Station, Texas; and his youngest son Justin B. of Bryan, Texas and his sons Drew and Blake and their mother Renae of Hobbs, New Mexico; and his brother Joel, of Commerce, TX.

In lieu of flowers, please support local community organizations or Dan's pet organization, Wounded Warriors.

Under the direction and care of Hillier Funeral Home.
