Alan Reh Smith, age 70, died peacefully January 23, 2023, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, surrounded by his daughters and close friends.

Alan was born to Minnie Frances O’Rear and M. Wayne Smith in Bryan, Texas. In 1982, Alan married Beverly Brookes and they went on to adopt two wonderful children, Lauren and Kristen. Alan and Beverly divorced in 2015, but they remained good friends and Alan continued to be very involved in both of his daughter’s lives.

He was very athletic in his younger years and enjoyed a variety of sports including softball, bass fishing, and golf. He loved spending time outdoors whether it be hunting, camping or sitting on a beach.

Alan was predeceased by his parents, Minnie and Wayne Smith; and stepfather, Wayne Todd; his sisters, Cynthia (Kirk) and Karen (Danny).

He is survived by his daughters, Lauren Smith of College Station and Kristen Smith of Granbury; along with four grandchildren who he dearly loved. He is also survived by a niece and nephew, cousins and his many close friends, who are family by choice.

A graveside service will be held at the College Station City Cemetery Friday, January 27, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of their choice or to perform an act of kindness in honor of Alan Reh.
