Darin Ray Cracknell
December 3, 1974 - December 27, 2022

Darin Ray went to be with the Lord December 27, 2022. He was born December 3, 1974.

He was a kind, creative, and sensitive person with a deep hearted soul. Growing up, Darin enjoyed all the normal activities all children do, sports, scouts, camps, hunting, fishing and traveling family trips, but most of all his biggest joy and pride was his family and friends, especially his grandparents with the strong bond they shared throughout the years. He was blessed with his cousins continuing from their little mischiefs to adults with lots of laughter and love.

Darin achieved his Karate black belt at the age of 12, continuing teaching classes. He played the guitar at an early age, singing his favorite Johnny Cash tunes later on and writing songs he also performed.

He grew up in San Antonio attending schools Locke Hill, Hobby and Clark. He went on to Texas A&M following in his dad’s footsteps as a “proud Aggie” Class of '97, along with his brother Reagan sharing those exciting years. Maybe too exciting!!

Darin and his family joined UUMC in 1986. We remember on our first visit, Darin and Reagan seeing all their school friends, were eager to join “that day”! That was the beginning of some of his best memories attending Church, Sunday School, Sunday night gatherings, mission trips, ski trips into his college years making lifelong memories and friends. He cherished those friendships and memories.

During Darin’s lifetime he lived in San Antonio, Dallas, Chicago and resided in New Braunfels. He had artistic talents for all he acquired from oil paintings, playing his guitar, singing, decorating his first home, designing and refinishing furniture from his adventures to estate sales. He appreciated inheriting antique pieces from his grandparents which he proudly displayed.

His last and greatest gift was his love for woodcrafts from charcuterie boards to beautiful unique and custom furniture designs. There are many owners that now cherish their magnificent pieces made with his love and labor. We said Darin was a perfectionist with all his endeavors he took pride.

Darin married Hannah, the love of his life, June 9, 2018. He was blessed to raise Hannah’s son, Calom as his own with pride and joy. They were able to take an Alaskan cruise trip soon after their marriage. It was “dog sledding” being the top of their favorites. They went to Port Aransas and enjoyed time with Hannah’s family. On Labor Day was our annual family trips to Sunrise Beach, at Lake LBJ enjoying being together, boating, pulling the children on a raft with Uncle Darin being begged to ride with them, which he happily did. He had a special gift with children whom he adored. Darin left his girl “June Carter”, who was a great pet companion over the years.

We thank you for surrounding our family with your love, presence, and prayers today in honor of remembering his life.

Darin is survived by his wife, Hannah, stepson Calom, parents Ray and Karen Cracknell, brother Reagan, (Lauren), niece Cameron, nephew, Reid; brother Kyle, (Kris), nephews Ryan and Tate; Father-in-law Jack Rice (Isabelle) and Mother-in-law Suzette O’Calliham along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
