Susan Dee (Sorensen) Davenport Olson

December 16, 1948 - December 29, 2022

Susan Dee Sorensen Davenport Olson passed away December 29, 2022. She was born in the original St. Joseph Hospital in downtown Bryan, Texas December 16, 1948 to Tommie Moorman Sorensen and Anton M. "Tony" Sorensen. Susan came home from the hospital to live in the shadow of Kyle Field on Texas A&M College's campus.

In 1966, Susan graduated from A&M Consolidated High School. In 1970, Susan graduated from Texas A&M University. After living in Florida, Susan returned to teach math at A&M Consolidated Middle School. Susan taught part-time at Blinn College in Bryan, Texas becoming a full-time Blinn instructor in 1989.

Susan reconnected with Carl Olson, whom she dated while a student at Texas A&M University. Susan and Carl married February 23, 2002.

Being reared in College Station and spending most of her life here, Susan blessed many folks.

Besides teaching, she tutored students, taught piano lessons, and sang in College Station's First Baptist Church choir. Most recently Susan and Carl attended Grace Bible Church and Country Fellowship Church. Susan was loved by many and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, step father L.A. Maddox, Jr, and brother Walt Sorensen.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Olson of College Station; Her children and their spouses, Scott & Jennifer Davenport (Ryder & Sawyer) of Archer, FL; Matt & Chelsy Davenport (Boden, Vinni, & Lainey) of Austin, TX. Her stepchildren and their spouses, Jennifer & Tim Pope (Jonathan) of Houston, TX; Courtney & Brea Olson (Kelby & Blakely) of Panhandle, TX; and Chris & Joy Olson (Esther, Ruth, & Anna) of Vine Grove, KY. Her step-brother Fred Maddox and wife Ruth.

Nephews and niece and their spouses, Eric & Pam Sorensen of Lindale, Kevin & Jessica Sorensen of Bryan, Nathan & Melissa Sorensen of Magnolia, Jason & Constance Sorensen of College Station, Anthony & Sarah Sorensen of Lindale, Heather & William Girotti of Colorado, and Wade & Rachel Sorensen of Lindale.

A graveside service will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at College Station Cemetery, 2530 South Texas Avenue College Station, TX 77840. The service will be at the Sorensen Family plot located near the entrance. After the graveside service, friends are invited to mingle with the family at Grace Bible Church, 700 Anderson St, College Station, TX 77840.
