Lloyd Benjamin Cook, Jr.

August 19, 1928 - May 13, 2022

Lloyd Benjamin Cook, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully May 13, 2022, at Veranda Assisted Living with his daughters by his side.

He was born on August 19, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Leah (Smith) and Lloyd Benjamin Cook, Sr.

Lloyd graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1947 and then attended Texas A&M University. In 1950 he joined the United States Marine Corps and served for two years in Korea during the war. After returning home, he continued his education at Texas A&M and received a Master's Degree in Education.

While in school, he met Ann Hudson and they were married on April 3, 1953 in Pearsall, Texas. Ann and Lloyd were married for over 56 years until her passing in 2010. After receiving his degree, he began his teaching career as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Floydada High School. Several years later, he and Ann moved back to Pearsall to be closer to family where he worked with his father at Beall Cook Chevrolet. In the mid 1970's, he returned to his teaching career at Uvalde High School and Eagle Pass High School.

Lloyd really enjoyed traveling. Some of his favorite places to visit were New Mexico, Colorado, Yellowstone Park, and Alaska. He and his family spent many summers camping in state and national parks. After retirement, he and Ann spent 2 summers in Yellowstone and even drove to Alaska. He loved driving his truck to see the countryside and would often take road trips to visit friends and family all over the US. He loved meeting new people and made friends everywhere he went.

His greatest passion was teaching Ag. He had a positive influence on so many lives and will be remembered as a great educator, mentor, and friend to his students. He remained in contact with many, even until his last days.

He is survived by his daughters Carol Ann Colshan (Larry) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Mary Leigh Schutza (Curtis) of Little Elm, Texas, grandchildren Erin, Emily, Matthew, and Sarah Colshan and Jill Schutza Hoffman, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sisters, Gloria Hunter and Nora Lee Sellers.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for him the last few years.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde, Texas. A visitation with the family to follow.
