Everett B. Turner

August 12, 1926 - June 28, 2022

Everett Burton Turner, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in Cypress, Texas. He was born to Mr. Everett H. Turner and Ms. Julia L. Burton on August 12, 1926 in Providence, Rhode Island.

A member of "The Greatest Generation," he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served honorably as a Chief Petty Officer on a minesweeper in the Pacific Theater until his discharge in 1946. Upon his discharge, he enrolled in Texas A&M University, graduating with his B.S.E.E.

In 1947, he married Martha Alice Curtis in Dallas, Texas. He then settled with his young family in Schenectady, New York, where he was an electrical engineer for General Electric. The family relocated to the Houston, Texas area in 1960, where he earned an M.S. in Applied Mathematics while continuing his engineering career with several consulting companies, and ultimately with Conoco. He was a groundbreaker in the field of distributed data processing, and co-author of a popular college textbook on the topic.

Everett is survived by his daughter, Julia (David) Baumhart, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; his younger son, David (Cheryl) Turner, Cypress, Texas; his four grandchildren, Charles Turner, Nancy Claire Turner, Peter (Samantha) Baumhart and Matthew (Caroline) Turner; and his five great grandchildren, as well as his brother, Robert Turner, and his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Everett remained married to his wife Martha until she passed away in 2002. Also predeceasing Everett is his older son, Curtis and his sister Priscilla.

Everett was a gentleman of many and varied interests, from coin collecting to jazz, to his native Rhode Island, to shooting clays and coffee ice cream. He loved his family and friends and thrived in their presence.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Wildwood Chapel with burial to follow.
