Jerry Rice
October 12, 1930 - November 17, 2022

Jerry Rice, age 92 of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

Jerry led a fulfilling and interesting life. He graduated from Baylor University and Texas A&M, where he obtained his Master of Science degree. His career began at GE Aerospace in Cincinnati, where he was instrumental in developing the cooling system to the Sikorsky Helicopter and worked on many aspects of the F104. At Jet Propulsion Laboratories, he worked on the Ranger Series unmanned rocket program which led to the success of the Apollo Missions landing on the moon. His next largest accomplishment was at Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX, where he was a part of the team that developed the original Fortran compliers and the first set of microchips. After moving to San Antonio, and for 30 years, Jerry with his wife Bettie owned the successful family business, Baby Fair.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Lu Rice and son Richard Ernest Rice; brother and sister, Warren Rice and Barbara Wooten; and his parents, Jeremiah and Nell Rice.

Survivors: daughter, Elizabeth Schur; son, David Rice; grandchildren, Brittany Leeanne Schur and Jeremy Mitchell Schur all from San Antonio; niece, Melissa Pearce of Elizabeth, CO; sister-in-law, Pam Parks Fenn; niece, Amanda Fenn both from Dallas, TX.

Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to:
