Dr. Robert Lee Harris, Jr.

October 24, 1933 - November 7, 2022

Dr. Robert Lee Harris, Jr. passed away peacefully on Nov. 7, 2022 in Dripping Springs TX, at the age of 89. Robert was born on October 24,1933 to Robert and Mildred Harris in Dallas, Texas. He attended Sunset High School in Oak Cliff and graduated in 1950. In the Fall he went on to Texas A & M and became a forever “Aggie” in his heart and mind. He was a proud member of the Corp of Cadets and graduated in 1954.

Following college he followed his passion and enrolled in University of Texas Medical School in Dallas, where he received his Doctorate in Family Practice medicine.

During his internship at Methodist Hospital Bob was introduced to the love of his life, Sue Sweeney. Bob and Sue married in 1958 and began their 64 year marriage in Florida where he served in the Navy as a Flight Surgeon. Upon leaving the military, Bob began his long and distinguished career as a family practitioner in Robstown, Texas. Dr Harris was well known and loved for 40 years in the Robstown and Corpus Christi communities where he had his family practice as well as duties at Robstown Riverside Hospital.

Bob and Sue went on to have 3 daughters, Leslee, Allison and Melissa and lived a very active, social life in the Calallen area of Corpus Christi. Some of his favorite activities were golfing, hunting, going to the beach and fishing in Port Aransas, as well as vacationing in Colorado to enjoy the mountains.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Leslee Moats, and survived by his wife, Sue, daughters Allison Johnson and Melissa Shippey. He also leaves a beautiful legacy of 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Bob wished to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in the Gulf of Mexico where he spent many happy times fishing and enjoying the beach as well as scenic “American Basin” near Lake City, Colorado. There will be a celebration of his life gathering with family and close friends to be decided in the near future.
