Kenneth "Ken" Wood '56 January 18, 2023 4:34 PM updated: January 18, 2023 4:42 PM

Kenneth Frank Wood
November 24, 1933 – December 20, 2022

IN THE CARE OF
Laurel Land Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Ken was born November 24, 1933 in Alvin, Texas to Hubert William Wood and Annie Wood. Raised near the coast, he was an accomplished fisherman, Eagle Scout, proud Aggie  (Class of '56), and continuous antagonist to his tea-sip friends.

In 1956 Ken married Mary Beth Wood, the love of his life, before being deployed to serve in the Army at Schweinfurt Germany. They had Julieann, their only child, in 1966. The family lived throughout the US in his capacity as a Chemist for Hunt Wesson, living in Houston, Chicago, New Orleans, and Memphis, before retiring to Buda, Texas. After being widowed in 2008, Ken spent his final years living independently and on his own terms near family and very close friends in Fort Worth.

Ken loved his family, history, the wilderness of Texas, and the Astros. He expressed creativity through baking, woodworking, stained glass and caring for God's creation through gardening.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Julieann (Jeff); granddaughter, Kelsey; sister, Louise Johnson (Howard); brother, Allan (Mary Ann); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth; and brother, Hubert (Shirley).

A graveside service was held on Friday, December 30th 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Confederate Cemetery (998 Dickinson Rd, Alvin, TX 77511).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a gift be made to Ken’s favorite charity, Beautiful Feet Ministries https://thefeet.org/
