Robert Lee Burney, III
April 17, 1946 - December 30, 2022

Robert Lee Burney, III, 76, of San Antonio, TX entered into the nearer presence of our Lord on December 30, 2022 after a long battle with cardiac and kidney issues.

Bob was born on April 17, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert Lee Burney, Jr, and Anne Adell Dion Burney. After graduating from Robert E Lee High School in 1964, where he was voted most handsome, and was a member of the Varsity football team, he went on to study Business Management at Texas A&M University.

After graduating with a degree in Business Management he worked with several contracting and construction firms before opening his company, The Aggie Chimney Sweep, in 1988. Bob quickly made a name for himself as one of the most distinguished Chimney Sweeps in San Antonio, going on to have the longest running chimney sweep company in San Antonio. Bob was a former President of the San Antonio Gun Club, Alamo Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, The Texas Chimney Sweep Guild, and The San Antonio Knife and Fork Club. He was on the Board of Directors of the National Chimney Sweep Guild and the San Antonio A&M Club from 1970-1972 and from 1997-1999. He was also a Board Member of the Robert E. Lee Alumni Association, San Antonio North Chamber of Commerce, and the San Antonio Boys and Girls Club. He was a member of the San Antonio Executives Association, The Stone Oak Business Association, and the San Antonio Petroleum Club. He was a national competitive skeet shooter for 10 years.

Bob was a passionate Aggie fan, his home filled w/Aggie memorabilia dating back to 1906. Bob was 3rd in line of 4 generations of Texas A&M graduates, including his grandfather, his father, and his daughters.

Bob was an avid hunter and spent many weekends hunting deer and birds. Bob had a zestful love of life; always ready for a good time. He was always quick with a smile and a joke. He loved BBQing and cooked a mean beer butt chicken, brisket, and ribs. He spent many years cooking for the Wild Game dinner at the San Antonio Gun Club where he was also an instructor for the Ladies Skeet Shooting League.

In 2017 Bob retired and spent his time hunting, watching football, completing puzzles, and spending time catching up with friends.

He is survived by his wife Dasa Meadows Burney, as well as his former wife Ferne Osman Burney and their daughters Meagan (Jason) Desbrow, Jessica (Chris) Dwyer, stepdaughter Shawn Meadows, stepson Kevin (Laura) Meadows, sisters, Anne Burney and Terri (David) Bisett. Bob is also survived by 7 grandchildren, James, Jonah, Jameson, Bellamy, Tracy, Lindsey, and Caroline.

Services will be held on January 26, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow at the San Antonio Gun Club at 6:00 p.m.
