Carrie Lynn (Coe) Hunt
May 27, 1964 – December 10, 2022

Carrie Lynn Coe Hunt, age 58, died peacefully on December 10, 2022 after a courageous seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was a loving, kind, and compassionate woman who made the world a better place for everyone who knew her. Her life was lived in quiet and selfless dedication to her family and others who needed love and support, especially her three children.

She was born on May 27, 1964 in Houston to Norman Glenn Coe and Joan Lanahan Coe. Carrie graduated from Stratford High School in 1982, where she was a member of the Spartanaire drill team and served as captain of company B.

She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1986, receiving her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. While at A&M, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She met her future husband Jeff during her first semester at A&M. They were married on June 21, 1986, at Memorial Drive Methodist Church in Houston.

Carrie began her career as an elementary teacher in Cedar Hill ISD, then moved to Houston where she taught in Spring Branch ISD at Meadow Wood and Terrace elementary schools. Carrie left teaching when she gave birth to her son Collin in 1990. Daughters Elaine and Ashlynn soon followed, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. Her entire life then became all about raising her children. She was always an ardent supporter of any and all of their activities. Carrie absolutely loved and embraced her role as mother. After raising her children for thirteen years, Carrie returned to teaching at Cornerstone United Methodist Pre-School from 2003 to 2009, then later at Millsap Elementary in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD from 2009 to 2015. Carrie was beloved by her students and fellow faculty members as someone who was born to be an elementary teacher. She was a dedicated and devoted teacher who loved working with children. On many occasions over the years, former students and parents would see her in public and stop to offer their thanks and affection.

Carrie loved her savior Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of Foundry Church. Among friends and family, she and Jeff renewed their wedding vows at Foundry on February 9, 2019. She was also able to attend a Walk to Emmaus in March 2017 through Foundry. She loved the pipe organ at the church and always wanted to stay after worship to listen to the postlude.

Carrie loved music, particularly country music and musicals like Mama Mia! and The Sound of Music. She also loved to travel, having visited Europe, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, and Mexico. But she would trade them all to spend time in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. As a young girl, teenager, and as an adult, Carrie traveled to the park countless times with family and friends. Finally, Carrie was a lover of all dogs and always had one or two furry friends throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her father, Carrie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jeff, son Collin, daughters Elaine and Ashlynn, mother Joan Lanahan Coe, sister Catherine Coe Williams and her husband Rolfe, brother-in-law John Hunt and his wife Vickie, nephews Cameron Williams and wife Barbara, Christian Williams, Phillip Hunt and wife Stephanie, and niece Emily Hunt Flesher and husband Paul

The family would like to thank everyone for their support and love during Carrie’s illness. Special thanks go to Angela Miller, First Light HomeCare of Tomball and the staff of Bristol Park at Cypress.

A celebration of Carrie’s life will be held in January at Foundry Church in Houston.

For those who would like to make a gift in Carrie’s memory, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or other charity that inspires your purpose and passion in life.
