Carey B. (C.B.) Wilson
August 18, 1945 - December 23, 2022
Carey B. "C. B." Wilson, 77, went to be with his Lord on December 23, 2022, in Georgetown, TX. He was born to John H. and Elizabeth (Hunt) Wilson on August 18, 1945, in Pecos, TX.
During high school years, C. B. participated in 4H, showing champion Hereford steers, as well as other 4H activities. He graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, TX in 1963, taking nearly all math classes during his Junior and Senior years.
He went on to enter the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M University. C. B. graduated from Texas A&M University in 1967, with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
After graduating, C. B. began what would become a 30+ year career with Texas Instruments. Taking a brief break from his career, he served in the Vietnam War as an officer in the U. S. Navy Seabee's. He met his wife, LuAnne, while attending OCS in Newport, RI. After his tour of duty, they were married on August 29, 1970, in Newport. He returned to Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX to complete his career, retiring as a Vice President. C. B.’s career with TI was mostly in the Consumer Products Department and included the design and development of their graphing calculators.
C. B. enjoyed many hobbies including piloting both prop planes and sailplanes, researching Texas and family history, astronomy, and creating things with his hands. He was a member of several organizations which included the Former Texas Rangers Foundation. C. B. researched and spearheaded the marking of several Texas Ranger’s graves that had been lost to history.
C. B. is survived by his daughter, Lynn; son-in-law, Bryan; granddaughter, Lauren; brother-in-law, David Myers; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
C. B. is preceded in death by his wife, LuAnne (Myers) Wilson; his parents, John H. and Elizabeth Wilson; his brother, John V. Wilson; his sister, Sue Dawson; his in-laws, Col. Gordon and Lucille Myers; brother-in-law, Steven Myers; and sister-in-laws, Joan Myers and Nancy Myers.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Weir Cemetery in Weir, TX on January 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with a gathering immediately following at Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made to the Haley Memorial Museum and History Center in Midland, TX, the Former Texas Rangers Foundation, the National WASP WWII Museum in Sweetwater, TX, Tunnel to Towers, or another veterans organization.
