Carrie Elizabeth (Linscott) Terry
September 19, 1972 ~ November 16, 2022

Carrie Elizabeth Linscott Terry, age 50, of Grayton Beach, Florida, went to be with Jesus on November 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a ten-year battle with Ovarian cancer.

Carrie was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 19, 1972, to Kay and Buck Linscott, but she got to Texas as soon as she could. She spent her formative years in Katy, Texas, where she excelled in everything she put her mind to. She was a swimmer, a gymnast, a cheerleader, and a tennis player. Carrie was very active at Memorial Lutheran Church, in Good News Children’s Bible Club and YoungLife, and she asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior at a young age. Carrie graduated from James E. Taylor High School in 1991, and then attended Texas A&M University. Whoop!

Upon college graduation, Carrie moved to Denver, Colorado, where she took a position with Dain-Rauscher. She met the love of her life, fellow Aggie, Craig Terry, while living in the Rocky Mountain State, and they enjoyed several years of skiing, hiking, Red Rock concerts, and anything and everything outdoors.

Carrie and Craig married in their favorite spot, Aspen, Colorado, on August 25, 2001. They soon moved to Round Rock, Texas, where they were thrilled to start their family. In 2004, they welcomed Lauren, and three years later, they were blessed with their son, Weldon. This made their family complete, and the children immediately became the joy of both their lives. In 2011, Craig and Carrie took a leap of faith and headed to the Florida panhandle, where they settled in the charming seaside community of Santa Rosa Beach, and were soon surrounded by a wonderful, supportive, and precious group of forever friends. God knew what the future held.

If you knew Carrie, you called her “friend.” She was selfless, intentional, kind, thoughtful, and genuinely a bright light to all who crossed her path. She elevated friendship to a new level, and so many called her their best friend.

Carrie fought a courageous 10-year battle against Ovarian cancer with grace and purpose. She knew that this was part of her story and sharing her faith in Jesus was part of her mission along the journey. Cancer did not define Carrie; she lived every moment with purpose and gratitude, and she gave God all the glory for seven cancer-free years.

Carrie loved her family fiercely and was involved in every aspect of their lives. From cheerleading to Lacrosse, and from soccer to wrestling, she was a rockstar mom on the sidelines. Even when Carrie was going through treatment, she never missed a beat. She enjoyed traveling, going to college football games, running, working out, eating healthy, and spending time with friends; but above all, she spent that time investing in her children, and instilling in them the faith and values that would carry them through their lives. And when the cancer returned, even in the midst of pain and suffering, she was still praising God and was joy-filled and thankful for all the blessings in her life, even up until the moment Jesus called her home.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and hospice caregivers, and all of the faithful friends and family for loving Carrie so well.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me – the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7

Carrie was laid to rest at Historic Gulf Cemetery in Santa Rosa Beach on Monday, November 21, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband, Craig Terry; their two children, Lauren Terry (18), and Weldon Terry (15); parents, Kay and Francis “Buck” Linscott; and sister, Megan Linscott, of Georgetown, Texas; Mother-in-law, Linda and Gary Jostes; Father-in-law, Mark and Peggy Terry; brother-in-law, Travis Terry; and sister-in-law, Melissa Terry, of Texas; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Carrie’s memory on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Good News Church, 4545 US Highway 98 W, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, followed by a reception in the church Narthex.
