Billy Don “Bill” Faubion, 80, of Amarillo, passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday December 10, 2022 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 19, 2022 at St. Stephen Methodist Church, 4600 S. Western St. with Pastor Jim Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Bill was born on May 24,1942 in Breckenridge, Texas. He graduated from Breckenridge High School and then went on to receive his B.S. in Chemistry (1964), M.S., & Ph.D. (1968) from Texas A&M University.

Bill married his wife, Colleen, on July 2, 1963 and together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. After college Bill and his wife lived in Alamosa, Colorado where he spent two years as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. They then moved to Amarillo where he joined Pantex in 1970. During his career at Pantex he served in many roles and published over a hundred technical reports and journal articles. He retired in 2013 as a Program Manager III.

He and Colleen have been members of Saint Stephen Methodist Church for 50 years. Bill was an active member of the church and enjoyed ushering and teaching Sunday school. Bill was a lifelong learner and was passionately involved with many hobbies. As a member of the Frontier Regiment of the High Plains he participated in historical reenactments including the filming of the 150th anniversary of the Alamo battle in Brackettville, Texas, the “Contested Plains Docudrama” as well as multiple programs teaching kids in the panhandle about Topographical Engineering. He was member of the Palo Duro Corral of Westerns International. He was a pilot and certified flight instructor and previously served in the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed cowboy action shooting, gunsmithing, engraving, leatherworking, woodworking, traveling, hiking, photography, and spending time with his girls. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James Luther Faubion and Ruby Pearl Johnson; and his brother Charles Michael Faubion.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen Faubion of Amarillo; three daughters, Jennifer Tomlinson and her husband Kelly of Lavaca, Arkansas, Laura Faubion of Amarillo, and Keri Preston and her husband Shane of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Ashlee Milton (Keefer), Josh Tomlinson (Zayra), Kaitlyn McGee (Michael), Zack Tomlinson, Colton Jungmeyer and Caleb Preston; and four great grandchildren, Auna, Nathaniel, Natalynn and Noble.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Church, or any of the many historical societies of your choice.
