Roger R. Anderson

October 14, 1944 - December 12, 2022

Roger Anderson, beloved Daddy and Opa, passed away peacefully at age 78 on December 12, 2022 in Cleburne, TX. A heart disease warrior for over 35 years who brought joy and love to all that knew him.

From golfing, to running, to cycling Roger loved the outdoors and was an active member of both the Fort Worth Cycling Club and the San Antonio Wheelmen. He even helped teach safety classes for new cyclists and worked repairing bicycles in a Fort Worth repair shop during retirement. While pursuing his multiple active interests he made many friends throughout his home state of Texas in Fort Worth, San Antonio, Cleburne and Kerrville just to name a few. He retired twice from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after more than 40 years of service. Much of his retirement was spent between traveling to Europe and Colorado to visit his two daughters and six grandchildren and enjoying rounds of golf with friends.

We will miss his stories, his laugh, his smile, his hugs and his booming sneezes.  We will miss him.

He was raised in Houston, Texas and attended college at Texas A&M University. His dedication as a proud Aggie Alumni continued through the years. Watching every A&M football game and giving a loud 'Whoop" and chasing his daughters around the house to give a kiss to celebrate each and every touchdown.

Roger also joined the Air Force and worked as a translator for the Thai language for a few years. A bright mind, he always loved to share his wisdom of everything around him and loved to give personal tours of his favorite towns, bike rides and breakfast tacos. "He's a smarta boy, he could spella big word like a showcase!"

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Althea Anderson.

He is survived by his two daughters Jana (Thad) Hoskins and Sheena (Stephen) Downey, and their mom MK Anderson; his six grandchildren Oliver Hoskins, Emory Downey, Simon Hoskins, Shiloh Downey, Milo Hoskins and Thatcher Downey; and his two sisters Janice (Howard, deceased) Brooks and Tina (Jerry) Coco.

"The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on January 3, at the Chapel (Birchman Ave. and Owasso St.) of Christ Chapel Bible Church, 3701 Birchman Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76107.
