Robert C. Dillon, Jr.

September 28, 1946 - December 13, 2022

Robert Crawford “Bobby” Dillon, Jr., 76, passed away December 13, 2022 in Taft, Texas. He was born September 28, 1946 in Sinton, Texas to Robert Sr. “Pickles” Dillon and Cleo Horne Dillon. Bobby grew up in Taft and played football for Taft High School.

He was a graduate of Texas A&M University, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agricultural Engineering. During his undergraduate years, Bobby was a proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets, Spider D, Class of ‘69. His Spider D classmates became lifelong friends, and he treasured his time in the Corps. For the rest of his life Bobby bled maroon, especially for Aggie football.

An avid hunter, Bobby was a founder of the Blackland Hunting Club. He remained a member for 28 years, enjoying the camaraderie as much as the sport.

He was a proud, lifelong cotton farmer and a founding member of the Country Bible Church of Texas. Bobby was a true pillar of his community. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity as much as his steadiness of character.

He is survived by his wife Shirlene Skrobarcek Dillon; son, James (Kristin) Dillon of Poteet, Texas; daughters Kelly (Tommy) Hicks of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Megan Cole of Cabool, Missouri; stepchildren Pete (Karen) Charba of Katy, Texas, Kay (George) Kurisky of Houston, Texas and Dr. Deane Charba Grune of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters Dianne (Mike) Moppert of Houston, Texas and Linda (Charles) Brown of Portland, Texas; grandchildren Maddox, Harper and Raylan Dillon, Justin and Ethan Boatman, Corban Hicks, Kaylee, Abby and Lucas Cole, Kseniya and Nataliya Charba, Haley and Holly Kurisky; four nieces, two nephews and many friends.

A visitation will be held at the Country Bible Church of Texas in Taft, Texas on Monday December 19, 2022 at 10AM, followed by a funeral service at the church at 11:00 AM with Larry Mayo officiating. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi
