William Watson Clifton, Jr.
March 3, 1952 - November 10, 2022

William Watson Clifton, Jr. (Bill), 70 of Midland, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2022. Services will be 10 AM, November 22, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home & Crematory at 3800 N. Big Spring. A reception will follow.

Bill was born on March 3, 1952 in Lubbock, TX to William Watson Clifton, Sr. and Jamie Evelyn Clifton.

He completed his undergraduate work at Texas A&M. While at A&M, Bill was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After completing his undergraduate degree, Bill went on to Texas Tech University where he received a degree in Law. Bill moved to Midland in the late 70s and practiced law for over 40 years. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Shafer, Davis, O’Leary, and Stoker.

Bill was a devoted family man, a talented musician, and well respected by the Permian Basin legal community. He was a friend and supporter to all who knew him and he is remembered by so many as one of the best friends they have ever had.

Bill is survived by his wife Shirley, his children Jacob Clifton, Lindsay De La Rosa and husband Jaime, David Clifton, Jenny Dean and husband Greg, John Clifton and wife Rachel, Katie Stewart, Lyle Clifton, George Clifton and his brother John Halley Clifton, wife Rhonda, and nieces Hannah and Caroline Clifton. Bill is also survived by four grandchildren: Andrea, Caleb, Jack, and Brooks.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jamie Jackson Clifton.

The family would like to express their gratitude toward Midland Memorial Hospital, Tripple C Home Health, Hospice of Midland, and a special thanks to Corey Sleight.
