Gene R. Anderson "Pops"
October 12, 1933 - November 3, 2022

Gene R. Anderson “Pops”, of Weatherford, TX, went home to see his Savior, Jesus on November 3, 2022. He was surrounded by his three children and the “peace that passes all understanding”.

He was born in Smithfield, Texas and was the oldest of seven wonderful brothers. He attended Birdville High School and Texas A&M University where he played the snare drum in the Aggie Band and graduated as an electrical engineer. He was a helicopter pilot and retired as a Colonel in the US Army.

He worked for Bell Helicopter for 50 years. After retirement he loved to serve others as a volunteer at Texas Health Resources and on The Mercy Ship in Africa. Gene was a deacon in his church and loved to sing in the choir and teach Sunday school. The most important thing in Gene “Pops” life was his love for Jesus. Pops loved to sing about Jesus and he loved people.

Gene was predeceased by the love of his life Rebecca A. Anderson “Becky”. He was also predeceased by his parents Eugene R. Anderson “Day” (Father), Mary Martine Anderson “Mer” (Mother), Brothers: Wendell Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Alvin Anderson and Jerry Anderson. Pops is survived by his three children: Sherri & Larry Oliver, Kimmy Anderson and “Timbo” & Carolyn Anderson and his grandchildren: Brandon Oliver, Courtney & Kerry Lewis, Adelyn Anderson, Wyatt Anderson, Ava Rae Anderson and Amarys Anderson. Pops is also survived by his two great grandchildren, Jace Lewis & Colt Lewis. Gene is also survived by his two brothers: Monty Anderson and Terry Anderson, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Besides his love for Jesus and people, Pops had a smile that would light up any room! Throughout Pops’ entire journey, he worked HARD, cracked jokes with his family and friends and made silly faces with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a friend to all and lived his life giving love, support and guidance. Pops was a gentle giant full of wisdom and worthy of respect. His kindness had a great ability to make others smile and his quick witted sense of humor, as well as his stories, brought joy to all who listened. Pops wants all who read this to know: “Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever”. Psalm 23:6.

A Celebration of Gene R. Anderson’s “Pops” life will be announced at a later date.
