Jack Harold Crawford
April 16, 1943 - September 22, 2022

Jack Harold Crawford, DVM, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on September 22, 2022 at his home in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born April 16, 1943, in Lewisville, Texas to Nowlin and Dovie (McPherson) Crawford. Jack was a descendent of the Crawford and Nowlin families, pioneers of the Flower Mound and Bethel (now Highland Village) communities in Denton County. His childhood farm home was near what is now Morriss Road and Cindy Lane. At the age of 16, Jack’s father passed away and Jack helped work the farm with his extended family. He graduated from Lewisville High School in 1961 and on November 3, 2000, he was inducted into the Lewisville High School Hall of Fame. Jack had fond memories growing up in Lewisville with his classmates, several of which remained his best friends to this day.

Jack attended North Texas State University for one year and spent his summer hauling hay to save money. He transferred to Texas A&M University where he studied Veterinary Medicine before graduating in 1966. Jack worked for the government for one year before serving in The United States Army Veterinarian Corp. In Vietnam, he provided veterinary care for Army guard dogs and for farm animals in local villages. Jack received the Campaign and Service Medal, Conduct Medal, and the National Service Medal. After serving as a Captain in New York and Vietnam, Jack returned home in 1969 and began practicing veterinary medicine in Irving, Texas. He served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Veterinary Medical Association and the Board of Directors of the Airport Freeway Animal Emergency Clinic. Jack was also a member of the AAHA, AVMA, and TVMA. Jack became a partner of Irving Animal Hospital with Dr. Jack Jones, and worked there providing care, expertise, and comfort to hundreds of animals and their owners until his retirement in 2012.

In 1969, Jack went on a blind date set up by his childhood friend, George White, where he met Linda and began their great love story together. Jack and Linda were married in 1972 and Jack adopted Linda’s two children, Pam and Russell. Together Jack and Linda have built a family on the values of unconditional love, shared joy, and Aggie football. Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Nannie Crawford, parents Nowlin and Dovie Crawford, sister Iris Anderson, and brother Mack Crawford. Jack is survived by his wife Linda, children Pam and Russell and his wife Susan, six grandchildren Ryan, Preston and his wife Kayla, Molly, Alex, Megan, and Travis, great grandchild Reece (son of Preston and Kayla), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack’s pallbearers will be his six grandchildren and the honorary pallbearers are George White, Bill Wolters, Ray Mayfield, James Bray, Greg Dye, Jack Burchers, Randy Harrell, Randy Anderson, and Terry Anderson.

The viewing will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Mulkey Mason Funeral home, 740 S. Edmonds Lane Lewisville, Texas 75067.

The graveside service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, 10:00 am, at Flower Mound Presbyterian Cemetery, 1501 Flower Mound Road, Flower Mound, TX 75028. Lunch will be provided at the Flower Mound Presbyterian Church adjacent to the cemetery immediately following the service.
