Larry Howard Nemec

April 4, 1957 - September 22, 2022

Larry Howard Nemec, 65, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on September 22, 2022. Larry was born to Gilbert F. Nemec and Evelyn M. Nemec on April 4, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the third of five siblings. Living close to the CC Bay, fishing was a big hobby during his childhood and continued to be throughout his life. He also enjoyed water skiing, sailing his Sunfish, and bicycling. Later in life he enjoyed spending time at his farm in Frelsburg, Texas.

Larry graduated valedictorian from Richard King High School in 1975. This was a proud moment for him and his family. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1979 at Texas A&M University with Magna Cum Laude honors, and Masters of Science in Industrial Management in 1985 at University of Houston.

After graduating from Texas A&M, he moved to Houston to accept a job with Ethyl Corporation. Ethyl was acquired several times during his career and he eventually worked for Albemarle, Amoco, BP/ Amoco & BP. Soon after coming to Houston, Larry joined St. Francis Desales Catholic Church and their young adults group where he met his wife Tina. They married in 1983 in Houston. They were blessed with two children, Shelley and Ryan. Larry was very active in his children's lives and enjoyed watching them play soccer and other sports. They meant the world to him.

Larry's job took him to many European countries, as well as Russia, China, Japan, and Africa. His family lived in Baton Rouge in 1990-93 and Belgium in 1997. He retired from BP in 2009. Larry reentered the workforce employed at CH2M Hill and later joined Ineos. In June 2020 he retired a second time. Larry was a very generous and caring person, and known for helping whoever was in need.

Larry is preceded in death by his father Gilbert, sister Diane Powell, brother Kenneth, and his nephew, Phillip.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Tina of Houston, daughter Shelley Burkett and husband Clarke of College Station, and son Ryan and wife Michelle of Rosharon along with their first child Clara due in January 2023, his mother Evelyn, brother Greg, sister Sheryl Awe and her husband Mark, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Family was very important to him.

A private family Mass will be held at St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for all family and friends to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, The Parkinson's Foundation or charity of your choice.
