Lionel John Milberger
August 8, 1940 - May 14, 2022

Lionel John Milberger, LTC USA (Ret) was born in Brazos County, Texas to Willie and Lena Milberger. He entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Following graduation from Bryan High School, he attended Texas A&M and received both a bachelor of Science degree and a master’s degree. He was an inventor of sixty patents, along with numerous foreign patents. Lionel has authored many published technical reports and papers and was considered to be an expert in the field of testing and measurements. Lionel is also a retired Lt. Col in the USAR. He was a graduate of several military schools, including the C&GS (Command and General Staff College) in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

Lionel married Dorothy Brooks in 1961. They had two sons, Lionel John Milberger, Jr. and Will Charles Milberger who both preceded him in death. Lionel and Dorothy built their retirement home in Robertson County but moved to Bryan in January of this year because of Lionel’s health.

Lionel was also preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Louis Milberger and sister-in-law, Marilyn Plagens.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Dorothy Brooks Milberger; sister-in-law, Jean Baker and Howard Monroe; Brother-in-law, Wayne and Pat Brooks; Sister-in-law, Nelda and William McClure; Brother-in-law, Bobby Brooks and Brother-in-law, Billy Plagens; brother, Willie and Josie Milberger; four granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Henry Prairie Baptist Church in Robertson County. Pastor Travis Aaron will officiate. A visitation will be held Saturday at the Church from 12:00 P.M. until service time. Burial will follow in the Henry Prairie Cemetery.
