Charles Joseph Cortez
January 25, 1957 - March 20, 2021

Charles Joseph “Jody” Cortez passed away on March 19 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Jody was born to Joseph and Maria Teresa Cortez in San Antonio on January 25, 1957.

He attended St. Anthony’s grade school, and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1975. He played basketball on the state championship teams of 1974 and 1975, coached by his father.

Jody graduated from Texas A&M University in 1982, and spent many years working in the produce industry in San Antonio.

He is survived by his family Joseph Alexander Hindt Cortez, the love of his life, Holly Hindt, and her son Blake Ehninger. He is also survived by his parents, his sister Laura Mendez, brother-in-law Joseph Mendez, brothers Danny Cortez and Andy Cortez, and the nieces and nephews who adored “Uncle Jody.”

Due to Covid restrictions, a small family service will be held.
