John Mohler Oglesby

September 12, 1929 - August 31, 2022

Graveside funeral services for John Mohler Oglesby, 92, of Gatesville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3 at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home of Goldthwaite.

He passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

He was born Sept. 12, 1929 in Center City to Jake “Mohler” Oglesby and Jonnie Bell Harrison Oglesby. He served in the U.S. Army, was a soil conservationist and worked for the Bureau of Land Management.

Survivors include cousin Charles “Chuck” Oglesby; nieces, Laura Schaefer, Beth Whiteleather, and Charlotte Appel; nephews, Scott Matney, and Monte Matney; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews; dear friends Ed and Diane Sanders and the rest of his Texas family who loved him so dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake “Mohler” Oglesby and Johnnie Bell Harrison Oglesby; his sisters, Virginia English, Glenda Matney; and his nephew, John “David” English.
