Jerry Morton Brown

July 13, 1937 - August 27, 2022

Jerry Brown, 85, formerly of Houston and San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2022. Jerry had been living with Alzheimer's disease for several years.

Jerry was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 13, 1937. He graduated from Paschal High School (Fort Worth) in 1955 and was on the track team. Class of '59, he graduated from Texas A&M University where he was in the Corps of Cadets and a member of the track team. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 1997, Jerry received the Texas A&M Dwight Look College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award.

During his 38-year career with Amoco in the oil and natural gas industry, he served in several executive positions, including Executive Vice President for U.S. Exploration and Production, Senior Vice President for Worldwide Oil and Gas Production and Regional Vice President in New Orleans, which included responsibility for Offshore Operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Jerry retired as Group Vice President of Amoco Corporation where he was responsible for Amoco's U.S. oil and natural gas operations.

Jerry served on a number of oil and gas industry boards and was involved in various civic and community organizations. He was a member of the Texas A&M and UTSA College of Engineering Advisory Boards. He also served on the Masters Leadership Program Alumni Association Board, the American Red Cross (San Antonio Chapter) Board, the Communities in Schools Board, the Advisory Board for the Alamo Community College District Leadership Institute and the Lighthouse for the Blind Board.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Morton Brown and is survived by his wife Rebecca Brown; daughters Karen Brown (fiancé David Donnelly) and Phyllis Smith (son-in-law Barry); grandsons Andrew Smith (Nicki), Adam Smith (Chelsea), Aaron Smith (Brittney) and Alex Smith; great granddaughter Allie Smith; nieces Sherilyn Lewis, Allison Lundt and nephew Trey Lundt.
