Erwin C. Wiederstein, Jr.
August 22, 1939 – July 28, 2022

Erwin Carl Wiederstein, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the age of 82.

Erwin was born in Wharton, Texas to Erwin C. Wiederstein, Sr. & Florence Kneupper Wiederstein. He lived his childhood in Wharton, then moved to Cibolo, Texas where his father owned the Cibolo Lumber Company. He attended Seguin High School and was a member of the high school band. He was an accomplished trombone player and met his love Nancy while playing in the band.

He attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band.

After graduating with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1961, he returned to the Cibolo/San Antonio area where he married Nancy Tausch on April 21, 1963.

He began his 30+ year career with Negley Paint Company as a salesman servicing builders and lumber yards throughout the South Texas Region. He was loved by his customers being the outgoing and friendly man who never met a stranger.

Erwin was a Director at Cibolo State Bank for many years serving the needs of the small farming community in his hometown. He was also an active member of the San Antonio A&M Club.

Erwin was a faithful man always putting God and family first. He will be remembered most for his devotion to his wife of 59 years, Nancy. He was a wonderful husband and father and worked hard allowing Nancy to stay at home with the kids. He was home every night for the family dinner and the entire family spent Sunday afternoons after church with his parents in Cibolo, then visiting Nancy’s parents in Seguin. In the summer months, he enjoyed time with the family at Lake Dunlap boating and waterskiing with the family.

He was a proud grandfather affectionately called “Papa” who enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren and attending their numerous activities. His favorite past time was Aggie Football games having held season tickets for over 30 years. Not only did he love the games but he obviously went to see his Aggie Band march! Gig’em!

Erwin is survived by his wife Nancy, his daughter Christie and husband Bob, his son Trey and wife Jordan & his son Todd; his brother, Bill and wife Emily.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Alex & Austin Hill, Jordyn, Trevor, Trace, Ty & Talon Wiederstein and his great-grandson Joah.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, on Friday, August 5th from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Saturday, August 6th at 1pm with internment to follow.

Memorials should be sent to the Texas Aggie Band Association, 1134 Finfeather Road, Bryan, TX 77803.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com for the Wiederstein family.
