September 28, 1939 - August 10, 2022

Memorial services for Dan Menzel Olson, 82, of Alba, formerly of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Marvin United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Baker officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service.

Mr. Olson passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in Tyler. He was born September 28, 1939 in Dallas to Oscar L. and Dorothy Menzel Olson.

Dan was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church where he actively participated in the Pairs & Parents Sunday School class. He served as head usher, a trustee, a member of the worship committee, a member of the men’s covenant group and on the administrative board. He graduated from Texas A&M University Class of ‘61. He held several positions at General Electric/Trane joining as a Manufacturing Engineer and retiring as International Purchasing Manager & Cooperate Capital Equipment Contracting Agent.

Dan was known for his warm, infectious smile and his outgoing nature. He loved spending time with his family at their farm in Emory, TX. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and many of their closest friends all over the world. He also enjoyed perfecting his golf game.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar L. and Dorothy M. Olson, his brother-in-law, Wayne Johnson and nephew, Curtis Johnson. He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Deanna; sons, David and Daniel and his wife, Vanessa; sister, Dottie Johnson; niece, Heather Smith and her husband, Travis.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Marvin United Methodist Church ushers and the Pairs and Parents Sunday School class.
