Clifford Ray Brunson passed away on July 3, 2022 in Houston, TX. Cliff was the youngest of three boys from Walter and Beatrice Brunson. Brothers Lawrence and Delbert preceded Cliff in death as well as his parents.
Cliff was born June 15, 1927 in Houston, Texas. He joined the US Navy on February 8, 1945 just before graduating high school and served in WWII as a Hospital Corpsman. Cliff graduated from Texas A&M after his service and married Shirley Hicks in 1949. They were married for 33 years before Shirley passed. They had a son Paul that passed away in 2019.
Cliff remarried in 1986 to Nita Tuggle and they were married over 17 years before her passing in 2003. They traveled the lower 48 states and Alaska in their motorhome. Cliff was very involved in the life of Nita’s son Robert, his wife Catherine, and their son Chris. Nita also has a daughter Ann Tuggle of Houston, Grandchildren Sean Houlihan of Brenham, TX and Heather Elkins of Colorado City, Co. Cliff also has many nieces and nephews throughout the country. Cliff would never want to forget the wonderful years that Joann Benson and her family were so kind to include him as part of their close knit family.
Cliff was very involved in South Main Baptist church for more than 85 years; serving as a Deacon and helping in the nursery for over 37 years, and a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He volunteered at the clothing center and helped make sandwiches for the homeless.
A celebration of life will be held at South Main Baptist Church at 4100 Main Street, Houston TX 77002 at 1 PM – Friday July 15, 2022. Donations can be made to South Main Baptist or the Salvation Army of Houston –at 1500 Austin, Houston TX 77002.
