Billy Mills Vaughn
September 19, 1928 – April 30, 2022
Brigadier General, ret., Billy Mills Vaughn, a Pendleton, Texas native and United States Army Veteran peacefully passed away on April, 30, 2022 with his family by his side. He was 93 years old.
Bill was a graduate of Texas A&M University, Class of 1949, where he was a distinguished member of the Corps of Cadets.
Bill's military career spanned 25 years and included assignments in Japan, Germany, combat tours in Korea and VietNam.
His service has been recognized with three Purple Hearts, Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Stars, Silver Star, Air Medal with 21 Oak Leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal.
Bill had a life-long love of aviation, which included flying fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft in his military career and on into his civilian life. He volunteered as a Docent at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas. He held his Private Pilot license until he was 91 years old.
Bill was a member of the Church on Rush Creek in Arlington, Texas, for many years before moving to Flower Mound, Texas, where he joined Flower Mound Presbyterian Church. He spent many hours as an active volunteer in both churches.
Bill was dedicated to God, family, and country.
